Anyone who says Mick is useless must be watching different games from me. I think he has been playing better this year. Seems to have a new lease on life. I like Davo as well, but he is nowhere near the player Micky has been, and still is.

Which up and coming rookie is being prevented from having a kick? (because of O'Loughlin not giving it away)

Swans need to look for younger new "blood".

The team still has some blokes i would pick any day...... Ryan O'Keefe is an unfashionable champion - just never gets the press that Hally, Kennelly (the Irish wonder boy) and Goodes get, but always makes the most of his opportunities.....

Once again i reiterate "You are useless O'Loughlin"

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

          O'Loughlin

Great that some think he is playing well. But given Hall being double and triple teamed constantly, surely it is O'L's time to stand up?

As an aside Sydney paid the penalty of chipping the ball around with 3 minutes to go last week. Why not push forward for a score - which would of made it a lot tougher for Brisbane to score twice, Cost them 2 points in the end, but thats footy.

Good luck for the finals - looking forward to some free flowing play and plenty of goals.

          cheers

No issues with you questioning a player's ability or the team tactics in the dying stages, but you sound really bitter to be honest.

Two GFs in a row and a Premiership does that to some people it seems.

The way I saw the endgame v Brisbane is that we lost it when we attempted to push forward. Five deliberate behinds and kickouts would have been better and probably used up the clock.

Am I the only person whose eyes glass over when someone pulls out useless stats?
I like to rely on my eyes when I'm summing up a players contribution to a game ... not the stats sheet. There are lots of things that happen behind the stats.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

As I've said many many times, you need to watch the game and look at the stats.

It's amazing how many times people have mistaken perceptions on a player's game based on a couple of incidents, yet the stats show something completely different.

Similarly, stats miss a lot of what occurs in the game.

Still, it's interesting that people think possessions and goals and marks and tackles and clearances are "useless stats".

The one thing that stats do is remove bias. We know your views of certain players (I think earlier in this thread you referred to Davis as "lazy" and a "showpony") so therefore if we relied on your eyes we would be getting a very warped view of players and their performances.

Stats should be used to back up arguments. In this case, I think it's pretty cut and dry that Davis and MOL are having very similar seasons, which is why the stats were produced in the first place.

Did you see our F50? It was completely flooded (what? I can only use that word when describing the Swans defence?) so that any forward push could have been quickly stopped. Maybe we could have trapped it in the F50, maybe Black would have dished off to a sprinting Power and the result be the same. We did what we should have done. Not kick to a contest when in front with a couple of minutes left. If the Lions manned up, sure, go forward and try and score, but really I think the boys did the right thing, just lost the last crucial stoppage.

They stupidly tried to kick to Hall over his head and as usual he was nowhere near marking it. Instead of doing that they should have kicked it long into our forward and forced a stoppage there. At least that would have provided an opportunity for a rushedbehind. A stoppage on the wing was stupid.
