If Brennan is being groomed as our next full back then we have a lot of years of mediocrity to come Im afraid. IMO he was terrible last night but as with all the defenders was not helped by the midfield being totally inept.

I could see him having a role in our backline somewhere but not at full back. IMO if we want a decent full back we will have to trade simple as. We have no definite prospects in the reserves and its a spot that we need to fill. For if you have a solid defence as we have had you can build your team from there. If you could have a spine of Craig Bolton and someone else(Not sure who) that was a good quality player we could use that to rebuild our backline on and begin the overall rebuild we have to do.

Then again who would have thought Barry would have made a FB. Was a profoundly disappointing footballer with big wraps as a forward. Went down back and early on looked anything but a FB. Brennan has a very good leap and again has only played 15 games.

There is something fundamentally wrong with that strategy but I cant quite put my finger on it.

It looks to me that Brennan is being groomed as our next full back. A reasonable height, has speed and is prepared to back himself and run off. He has only played 15 games of AFL and was a top 10 draft pick. He looks and plays like he knows he belongs out there.
I also think Brennan has a future. But not as a FB....can't see him having any chance against the big FF's. BTW had Dempster been playing last night he would of been the obvious player to replace Brennan after the first quarter towelling.

          Neither can Paul Roos evidently.
