I feel sorry for Adam Goodes

He didn't deserve what happened last night.

His work ethic was second to none and played most of the game without a break. It's not too often that a player in a side that has been so comprehensively beaten picks up 3 Brownlow points.
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

    Adam Goodes vs Adelaide 2005.

What little I could be bothered watching of the game it seemed there were only 3 Swans players getting about 70% of our possessions - & Goodes was getting about 40% of them.

Correct Claret, many times he had the footy and no one to kick to and his run in the last Q through the middle was a desperate attempt to set something up that didn't exist. I thought gees he is going to run the field here. At one point at the start of the last Q he looked completely spent but rallied to finish the game off in style. Someone had to.

I also felt sorry for him last night. He was trying his heart out but his efforts were being cancelled out by hacks like Mathews.

I think Roosy summed up Goodes performance brilliantly.

From a running point of view he was a stand out, and when you see Goodsy run, he’s a really good athlete.

“It does show up the ones that don’t run and he did that tonight. It’s a simple formula. In football if you work hard and you run, and put a lot of effort in, you generally get to the ball, you get to the contest.

Does that mean from Roosey's statement that the penny has finally dropped with him that against good sides we are always second to the ball, the hallmark of an ultra defensive game plan.

It was so obvious last night that we did not run to support much at all. Too much zoning off on their own man and virtually no risk taking. The only way we can turn our campaign around is to take some risks.

The proof of this is in our inabilty to kick much more than 11 or 12 goals a game. Blind Freddy can see this but he is obviously not telling Roosey his secret.

I think Roosey should book in another session with another Freddy ... Fitler. They should go back down to Eastern Suburbs and learn how to tackle again. How many missed tackles were there last night??
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

The other two were Jolly and who?

I was thinking at one stage that we looked like boys trying to tackle men. Based on experience and age it should have been the other way around.

And I thought I was the only one who Jolly played a top game. He was the only player running to space apart from Goodes. I too am struggling to find that elusive third person.

I'll tell you one it wasn't, Luke Ablett. I was stunned in the last Q when he emerged from the shadows and took a bounce (thought he must have been a late withdrawl) only to turn it over. He had a back related hamstring problems pre season and it was reported he had a very limited pre season yet has played nearly every game (poorly). He has dropped off so badly this season there must be an explanation.

Ablett was one of the more effective players in the centre last night, he did set up at least one shot at goal, unlike the rest in the middle.

I watched the game without commentary and I'm wondering why no one has mentioned the numbers 28, 11, 6, 2, 3 and 1.

I did somewhere and so have others.

                            Crouch is finished.
                            McVeigh was useless.
Davis did little, but like most forwards rarely saw the ball.
                            Hall likewise.

What's your comment on C Bolton?

                            Who's 11?

Faint praise indeed. One of the most useless midfielders I can remember!
