    Gutted.

I don't know if it is just me....but I have woken up feeling absolutely gutted.

    Our season is over.

Just when I thought we were warming up to a good finish, we go and draw last week and lose last night. Absolutely insipid.

We have a couple of massive problems that were shown up last night. What really gets to me is that we didn't even look like we cared last night. There was a lack of spirit shown, by the majority of players.

I actually applauded Amon when he did that hit. It was straight after he kicked a goal and I think he was trying to fire us up....unfortunately it didn't work.

I only hope with excellent recruiting/training that we don't continue the slide next year.

My fingers are now crossed for the Cats.

Yeh, it's crap - but we can actually make up a lot of ground (in terms of momentum rather than ladder positioning) by winning next week.

Time to regroup - and that means the supporters too!

In a way, I feel a slight bit of relief .. insofar as I believe now we were punching above our weight (as we DO!) but in reality, the others have been quietly building, as we nursed injuries and reputation.

I'd be quite happy to see the Cats go all the way - and yes, to do it over the Eagles. I'd say they'd be playing with a mission to correct the ledger. It's the right time. And the time is now.

Having travelled to both the Brisbane and Collingwood games, 'gutted' doesnt sufficiently describe how I feel today. It appears that only Essendon winning next week and us losing can cause us to miss the finals, but even in the likelihood that we do make the 8, unless Hawthorn lose today we wont have a home final and will just be making up numbers. It's hard to accept after the previous two seasons. At least it'll save me some money and mean I can focus on some other things in life.

And in Sydney's absence in September I'll be yelling "Go Cats!".

I had a terrible day yesterday in terms of footy. The Swans losing was compounded by my WAFL side blowing a 37 point lead in a game they needed to win to make the finals. They are shot now.

we really are shot imo.... we will limp into the 8 and maybe somehow win in the 1st week but that is about it. We need to do some serious thinking come draft time and need to look to the future as we must make changes if we want to get back to the top of the pile.

Time to test the loyalty of Swans supporters. Roos and Colless maintain that a Swans team can nevber 'bottom out' well I'd much prefer to do that and get some decent KPP youngsters in than have another 3-4 years or longer of finishing bottom half of the 8.

I look back over the last seven seasons and I think ... wow!!
I'm looking forward to going back to the "no pressure of the premiership hanging over us" footy.

Annie, you're making a lot of sense. We've all been through worse. I fear that soime people think that it is the norm to play in 4 Gf winning 3 ala Brisbane. IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR THAT TO HAPPEN!

We have played in the last 2 GF and won one. That is more than many other clubs supporters have seen in their lifetimes. As you said we have been through worse things than "Just making up the numbers in September"

The positive, as Cruiser said, is that it will save me some money this September.

It's not me saying it! Roos himself has said that Sydney cannot afford to bottom out like some Melbourne clubs. I am saying we should.

In Sydney, we can't afford to have a single year, let alone two or three, on the bottom of the ladder in order to get the top draft picks.

                      I agree with you.

We can afford to languish at the bottom of the ladder for a year or two ... Roosey just doesn't want that to happen on his watch.

Our problem with being finals contenders over the last seven or so seasons has meant that we have missed the opportunity of picking up some "better" younger talent in the draft.

I'll still go and watch live games. Win or lose.

Yep - appearing in consecutive GF pretty damn good. From my calculations we will either met Roos or Collingwood in first week of Finals - in Melbourne and if our defence gets a bit stronger both winnable. Maybe we are limping in but apart from a home final positions 5 - 8 are effectively the same. If not in Sydney then Melbourne is a good second choice. At least this year we have introduced a few different players to help next year.

Our season is not, repeat NOT, over.
It's not looking very healthy right now, but until we lose one of our next five games, we are still alive.
There are seven teams who are not. We are not one of them yet.
Don't lose hope but put all energy into getting us over the line against the Hawks next week.

Of course not, but there was a window there for us to win 2 flags and we're not going to.
