    Article: Swans overrun by Pies.

    Swans v Pies

Thanks Nick, for an interesting article, of an uninteresting game. (from a swans perspective, anyway)

    Enjoy.

RWO article of the year in my opinion (RWOAOTYIMO). I enjoyed it Nick in spite of the lack of potentially unwarranted Davo praise. Well done. More of the same. Tally ho, old chap!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Thanks Stella - I so nearly commented on our first goal of the game - Davo's superb 55m bomb. His other goal was very nice too. He could easily have kicked 4 if they had kicked to him instead of Hall on a couple of specific occasions, neither of which produced goals for us.

There was one in the 2nd(?) where he was cutting across the path of Hall, from an angle, and pulled out at the last second. Hall marked on his chest. Yes, one of the rare ones that stuck.

I liked the way they booed Nick as he lined up for his first. I even had calls from behind us saying you're a real team player, as he got set to have a shot from outside 50. He threaded it with ease. That shut them up!

We shut up the boos in our area by reminding them of the Davis Premiership count haha

That was Goody Stella's play of the night. Davo had clearly been leading to space and not noticed Hall until the last minute, she was very impressed with his ability to not spoil Hall and suggested that if any of the members of our back 6 (apart from Craig Bolton, she is the lady who can be heard at the football saying "I love Craig Bolton" about 20 times a game) had Davo's perception and ability to read play then it wouldn't matter that they are so undersized.

              Thanks all.

Yep - I was thinking of the one when Davo and Hall nearly collided. Superb vision and sidestepping. I was yelling - leave it to Davo. Turns out I was right!

We were thinking the same thing but would you argue when your Big Bad Bustling skipper calls you out of the play? I know I wouldn't get in his way!
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

I'll add my appreciation and thanks to NMW for a great report.

Am glad you mentioned Bevan as a decent player. My impression at the ground was that apart from Goodes, he was the Swans' next best. His judgement in the contests looked very solid and I agree with you that he was doing his darndest to create some run from the backline.

And as for Craig Bolton, when was the last time he played a bad game? Even when he occasionally gets a run of goals kicked on him, it is usually in a situation where no defender could have done much about it. At the weekend he kept getting shifted from one forward to another, as various Pies' forwards were able to exploit a weakness in their opponent and he was moved in to replace them.

Disappointing as the Swans were, I think a lot of credit has to go to Malthouse and his team for executing a very good plan against us. They are the only team who have outplayed us in the midfield for every quarter we've played against them. Even against Geelong and the Eagles, there were periods of the game at least where our midfield looked vaguely competitive. Yet the Pies, hardly the classiest or quickest midfield going around have made ours looked like absolute treacle and inept tacklers twice this year and for the entire games, to boot. I don't think it's entirely down to the Swans not turning up to play.

Nice, fluent style...well done...easy to read. Agree about the supporters. I had Pies supporters who are normally civilised human beings texting me and whinging about the umpiring. I was very restrained as I value their friendship.
