Don't disagree with that, however it was the last game he played before the Pies game so is relevant.

I want Schmidt to be in the team as well and would pick him ahead of Bevan, Cheese, Mathews etc.

No, he was better than that. Some good tackling, disposals, second efforts. The worst clangers were the Eski's. A bit out of character though.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                Rubbish.

He was excellent today and thoroughly deserves his spot. 2nd game back and will be better for the run as well.

Crouch was better than last week but he still fumbled a lot when trying to gather from the ground. Sure he should get better with game time but if you want to bring in Buchanan and Hall, then Crouch is towards the top of the list of those, on form, who would have to be sitting on the edge.

Did anyone else see Crouchy directing Cheese and other players where to go on the field. Whilst Crouchy is under done, I believe his leadership and understanding of the gameplan is highly regarded and needed in the swans team.

Like a good wine getting better all the time!

I stand on my record for not dissing Sydney players unnecessarily, but today Crouch was not good, at times verging on embarrassing.

Give him his due, he made position in the forward-line, took 2 uncontested marks and kicked truly. He had a few other possessions, too.

Apart from that, he looked plain old slow. Whichever Hawk was playing on him could beat him by a few steps in a 15 metre race for the ball. Even when around the contest, he didn't play with the fire and focus we've come to expect from him. I wouldn't have backed him to beat his direct opponent in any one-on-one contest.

I cannot see how he would even be in consideration for our best 22 next week on that showing. And unless he's got a lot more improvement left in him, in an extremely tight list environment (few-to-no retirees, lots of rookies who have earnt consideration for promotion) he would be no certainty to deserve a spot in 2008.

There was a point late in the game when Taylor loped away from Crouch who look too buggered to chase him.
