Collingwood need a ruckamn. Boy would I like Pendlebury in exchange. How good is that bloke. How did he get such "silky" movement and spacial awareness and not be classified as indigenous. Indigenous Celt maybe!

      Money.

If we really want him to stay, we can keep him.

But if he REALLY wants to go, then he should.

      1) This could be a contract negatiation

      2) The Swans IMO do pretty well in trading players.

They could always do what many other career people do and live in seperate cities. Whilst it isn't ideal, there are many people who for a period of a few years live "married -seperated" for the sake of their careers. Unlike other careers, footballers could spend a fair bit of time in the other city either after games there or in between rounds. Get into the real world instead of the shelter of being an "elite" sportsman.

I don't think so. If he really wants to go back to Melbourne, we won't be able to pay him enough to keep him.

And a bit simplistic to think that spouses' views shouldn't have an influence. There are plenty of jobs where their input would be taken for granted.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

              Jolly Bye Bye!

If Jolly really does want to be traded to a Melbourne club then we should all pray for a few things to happen:

              1. The Swans last long into the finals (as if we wouldn't anyway).

              2. Jolly stars for the Swans in our remaining matches.

              3. Demand for a solid Ruckman is very high next year.

All the above would ensure that the Swans are offered a very good deal for Jolly (if infact he does want to go back to Melbourne) and allow a bidding war to erupt in favour of the Swans.

StKilda, Carlton, and Collingwood would love to have him.

Is he out of contract at the end of the year? If he isn't then we hold the bargaining chips with the Melbourne clubs.

I make no judgement on the bloke because I reckon he has given us good value apart from that one day in September, however, on that one day in September over a couple of beers before the game, I was told on very, very, very good authority, that he is under the thumb and when he went to Sydney, Melbourne was glad to see the back of her. If the baby was to be born on GF day he had no say in it, he wasn't playing.

                      Agreed.

But that assumes that his mind is well and truly made up.

Perhaps he/his wife/both are in two minds.

There are a lot of negatives to moving away from the Swans.

I would say that they are regarded as one of the more professional clubs with above average facilities.
the are no real guarantees as to where one would end up.
Form may fluctuate more with a new coach and teammates.

Lining the pockets more may put a few more ticks in the 'stay column'

Exactly what I was thinking whilst watching them today. I'm sure they would be happy to add Jolly to their list. Could we get Kosi from them? Take the risk he doesn't break himself for a few years.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

You can bet your life Stell if the rumour is correct our recruiting dept right now, over a couple of frothies, would be white anting some club by talking to the manager of a target player.

Is Jolly?s rumoured departure the first time our club has been placed in the can by ?go home? factor? No, and it won?t be the last either.

Memo to our recruiting people: only recruit blokes from out of town if:

                              They are unattached.
They are within 2 or 3 years of retirement.
They have hooked up with a girl from Sydney, NSW or overseas.

Any player with a romantic connection with an interstate girl is a huge gamble..

As a rider, single blokes should be encouraged to fall in love with athletic Sydney girls. That will lock them into this city for good, and increase the chance of future F&S selections!

A happy footballer is a good one. If a bloke is being hassled by his T&S, is pre-occupied by family issues or has a love life is in tatters it will be reflected by poor performance on the paddock.

With the go home factor, it?s better to GRO the player concerned immediately while he has the best trade value. If he stays, things will only get worse. If Jolly?s T&S is giving him that much grief the club should cut it?s losses immediately.
What is it with our players and women.

We have had the Jolly saga, then Goodesy goes off his game, becomes petulant, gets reported, breaks off with one woman then discovered another woman and magically he becomes a superstar again.

Then there is Jude who has lost all form since Delta dumped him.
