Pushed to the limit - RWO Reserves Match report Swans Vs Belconnen

'Tis unusual indeed for the reserves to get a tougher contest than the senior team. Old Royboy fronted up as usual and tells us why it was a tougher contest than normal.

And thanks to Desmond for the photos. (Hold your cursor over them if you don't recognise the player.)

If this starts to happen more often, do you think that the seniors should switch to a more competitive competition, or should we rotate players through the ACTAFL to get them some genuine practice ?
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

Thanks for the read and the piccies guys.

Do you see them grooming White as a potential ruckman or more key position? Is his playing in the ruck more to get him involved than anything else?
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

White is a really interesting one, he is listed as being 196 cm, but I think he may be a smidgen taller (or at least he looks taller than LRT to me, and Lewis is listed at 196), and has a massive frame (that's he already packed a lot of muscle in to). Very quick, a great leap and has good skills for someone his size. He is keen as mustard too, shows some flair and seems just a little bit cheeky out there. Stamina and learning the game a little bit more are the big things he needs to make an impact at senior level.... he seems to lack a bit of consistency in the magoos, but I think a lot of that comes down to those 2 main points, he certainly seems to always be having a go. I'd say they are grooming him as a key position player, but I wouldn't be too shocked if he spends time as a backup ruckman in the seniors.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Full credit to Belconnen. Maybe LRT was more valuable than the reserves "Best" lists have been implying. His game on the weekend certainly looked alright.

Thanks ORB, Des - I really appreciate these bulletins. It's becoming more important to know what the twos are up to as we start seeing more of them in the ones. I look forward to seeing White in action.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Just to pick up on one comment / question you asked in your report ORB

When the players came back onto the ground after half-time, Rowe was limping badly. While the other's did their stretches, he ran up and down under the watchful eye of a trainer. It looked like maybe he was trying to run out a corkie? But he was labouring badly. Can't remember whether I saw him on the ground at all in the second half but even if he did spend some time out there, he'd have struggled to get to many contests.

What a great report. I really enjoyed the game notes as well. I'm in Canberra this weekend - does anyone know where/when they will play?

I notice that Peter 'Colombo' Faulks hasn't played for several weeks, and isn't on the injury list. Read elsewhere of rumours of a falling out between him and the club management. Anyone got the goss? A shame if true, as none of our other young big blokes (White, Rowe, Cheese) appear to be natural defenders.

Will Sydney do the within-the-letter-but-outside-the-spirit thing of delisting him after one year?

He was in the picture of players collecting for Tadhg's charity thingy so he is in Sydney, not banished back to Melbourne. Zerry interesting.

                      Hi Liz

I remember that my Dad, who made it down from Maud (near Hay) for the weekend, and I noticed Rowe limping badly before the start of the 2nd half, before the 4th quarter and coming off after the game.

                      Cheers
                      Doc
