    The "public interest" of Tasmanians.

The Tasmanian Premier has revealed the government's $15 million sponsorship deal with the Hawthorn Football Club has clauses relating to player behaviour.

    ...

Today, Liberal Opposition member, Rene Hidding, asked in state parliament if player behavior was covered in the deal.

"Does the taxpayer have the protection of a discount in this deal if for instance it were soon to be revealed that some senior Hawthorn players, who wear the Tasmanian logo, have been connected with illicit drugs?' he asked the Premier, Paul Lennon.

The Premier, Paul Lennon, says there are clauses relating to player behaviour. "Our contract arrangements do require player behaviour," he said.

OMG ... I forgot all about the sponsorship dollars !

Didn't a wobbly or richmond player** get fined heavily (or even suspended) for drink driving ... after the TAC chucked a spaz?

** I'm not sure who is sponsored by TAC these days.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Does anyone else see the irony in Tasmania bitching about Hawthorn giving them a poor reputation on the mainland?

Surely the fact that it even gets a mention on RWO is better value than they could have possibly expected?

I don't think the member was bitching about the damage to Tasmania's reputation so much as whether the taxpayers of the state should necessarily be sponsoring the club.

What happened to that quote about there being no bad publicity, or any publicity is good publicity? Surely this is a good opportunity to get the word Tasmania mentioned numerous times.
