Realistically, the only ways to get Kerr are....

    1) He decides that he is desperate to be a Swan and demands ti be traded to Sydney or he'll nominate for the draft and West Coast will get nothing for him so they'll have to trade him for whatever the Swans want.
This has worked in the past but I doubt Kerr will be convinced that Sydney is the place for him.

    2) He nominates for the draft and we offer him a crap load of money and therefore any other club would have to match the deal for him to go elsewhere.

Seriously doubt that anything will happen with Kerr, and I too am a fan of keeping our first draft pick and using our second.

What the Swans usually do thouygh is trade a player for say a #15 pick, then use their #11 to gain another player, which leaves us with a worse first round pick, or even a high second round pick.
Can't happen because he is contracted for another year. If he doesn't extend his contract with the Eagles, I suspect he'll be traded.

You're not alone there - I couldn't agree more. And while Kerr has a lot to offer, the right coach with those we already have is an even better proposition to my mind. I imagine Buckley may want a bit of a change before he settles down at Collingwood (and he knows our style, probably as well as our own blokes). Or if we want to use our own, Allison seems to have done a fine job with the twos, could he have a go and get Horse to do something else, like back to the forwards so to speak.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Kerr is being selfish...he's asking for a 5 yr deal from what I hear with WCE. So its much like the Johnno Brown saga....

they'll settle over there I would say, but the difference is JB cares about Brisbane, I don't think Kerr cares who he plays for as long as he gets what he wants.

Doubtful that Sydney will put up for what he'll be asking.

Couldn't agree more. Fletcher was made to look good by the midfield around him and they may well look to trade him, but I wouldn't swap ROK for anyone, Judd included. I still believe the answer lies in building from youth and I reckon Roosy needs to bring in some of the younger players sooner, give them the chance to show what they could do. I thought Schmidt looked good what we saw of him this year prior to injury and there must be others. This fixation with trading our best players is silly. Even LRT deserves a bit more time to develop, he's still young enuf to fill out a bit more, has enuf guts to run back with the flight of the ball and fits in with the team structure. Also looks like he wants to be there, unlike Reg who is big enuf, but too slow on the lead, although he does appear to have good hands and marking ability. Hard decisions for someone to make. Glad it's not me. But we must keep ROK, Amon, McVeigh, B2, Marty, Eski, another year out of Tadgh and he will probably go home. Staples. Everyone will be looking for midfielders barring the top three sides. Maybe we ought to look again at who might get forced out of Geelong under the salary cap, Playfair can go as far I'm concerned, bad deal we got on that one. I could ramble on all night about this stuff, Fossie, what do we do with him? Someone tell me, elite running midfielder who couldn't get a game, seems odd to me. Anyway.....

That's the long way of saying Kerr is not the answer. Let's not throwaway crucial draft picks to get him here.
Cant agree IMHO the missing ingredient is pace and size it looks like all these guys had a role in Snow White before AFL. A midfield coach wont make them faster, but in saying this I do agree it is time for new ideas in the MF.

None of these guys at this stage of their careers is a game breaker, maybe Ves could be later its too early to say anything about Meredith. We need a gun MF and we cant afford to wait for one to develop so we need to chase and offer whatever it takes.

With Fosdike back Goodes fit, Kirk ready for another, rotations from Jack, Jude, Aamon, Ves add a gun to this group MF opposition teams cant ignore and the dynamic of our MF group changes from Def to Offense can only be good?

It may pay, during the season, to check the injury list. You will find more often than not this season that Fosdike was listed as injured, that's why he couldn't get a game.

Personally i dont want him, yeah he is a GOOD player, not GREAT.
He made his name by being dominate when WCE had Judd and Cuz.
With those 2 being taken by the Opp's #1 & 2 taggers, Kerr was able to run riot.
However this year being the number midfielder at WCE, he has struggled with Opp's #1 tagger on him, hasn't dominated hence the frustration that has seen him suspended a couple times.

We need someone that can dominate with a teams #1 tagger on them.
I would still rate Cousins above Kerr even now as a better midfielder that would give you 2 good years.

Kerr & Cousins i rate similar with any infury concerns and you know Cousins will go past the pain barrier every time when he plays, i haven't seen Kerr do that, and he tends to get soft possessions.

Maybe he just lifts agst Swans because I thought he was excellent agst us this year sans Cuz/Judd.

I think that player is Goodes IMO. Kerr would slot into our midfield very nicely.

                    .
Ah what the? you may want to check some stats he is one of a few players who can turn a game, the only thing he struggled with was injury - even with an injury riddled year he avge 23.7 Disp to Judds 24.2 but dont let facts get in the way of a good post.

                    Cheers

                      Firstly, the word's dominant.

Secondly, Kerr had 27 possessions per game last year when there was no Cousins and Judd was on one leg. This year Kerr had 24 possessions per game despite injuries and a crappy team. That's one of the highest levels in the comp.

Thirdly, there's no such word as "firstly". Otherwise, I agree with your second point - personality issues aside, I'd have Kerr in a heartbeat.
