If that's the case it's the first thread about trading for players that has any merit to it.

Did anyone else catch this? Maybe I missed it...

Geelong midfielder Kane Tenace may be offered the chance to secure a regular spot
elsewhere, with Sydney Swans understood to be the frontrunners.

Tenace, 22, is out of contract at the end of the month and is not in contention for Geelong's finals
campaign after missing the past two months with a hamstring injury.

This has peaked my interest. Very good player that hasn't found a regular spot in a very good team. Would be a boost in our midfield because Tenace has pace.

He'd be a great addition, assuming they can get his hamstrings right.

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I'd assume so. You would'nt give up a first rounder for Tenace. We should give them Ablett, then they'd have all three!

Draft picks would be adequate enough for Tenace. I wouldn't think that you would use a player for him.

I think more relevant is that Geelong wouldn't want players - or not fringe players, anyway.

They have no obvious weaknesses in their current best 25 or so, so unless you're going to offer them someone who would clearly walk into their best 22 - say a Goodes, O'Keefe, Malceski (and no, I am not advocating trading any of those) - they'd probably only be interested in a highly promising young key defender who they can afford to be patient with. Given we don't have a Thorpe, Gumbleton, Hansen etc sitting on our list, a draft pick makes more sense for them.

Is he worth a 2nd rounder?

seems I may have been close to the mark with the recent news that the swans are front runners to secure the young man.

Are we reallyu prepared to get another player from Geelong, given our last 2 success stories.
