Reminds me a lot of a previous player we picked up from the Cats.....

Pacey with a bit of talent???.... Just where is Spriggs at the moment???

Mind you, he's still worth going after..

I didn't raise the suggestion - I just agreed with it.

As for Ablett though, I do get tired of some people raving about his performances when he really does very little.

I do recognise the 1 in 10 or 15 good games he plays.
I also recognise the ordinary games he plays.
Hardly any wonder why my views of him are negative.

I believe you thought his first half (ie up to the point he got injured) against Hawthorn was nothing to write home about despite the fact he was leading the team with effective possessions up to that point, had delivered the ball inside 50 four times (from memory) including at least two that had resulted in marks to forward, had scored one goal and kept one of the best Hawks relatively quiet.

He is not a superstar but he plays more than 1 good game in 10 or 15. Do you not think that your negative opinions of him are one of the reasons why you don't always notice when he actually has a pretty decent game?

Possibly, but I do also notice how many terrible disposals he makes (throwing the ball on the boot and kicking it in a random direction is barely an effective disposal).

Yes, he often does good defensive work. I've often acknowledged that side of his game.

His offensive side is generally poor. Doesn't get enough of the ball and when he does he frequently does not use it well.

I agree, some people have a preconcieved idea of his game and even when he plays well they will always preface it with some crap about he only plays 1 in 10 or 1 in 15 good games.

FWIW Listening to the ABC Radio on the lead up to our loss to Collingwood in the EF, they all agreed that with Kirk now being far more than a tagger, that the number 1 tagger in the Swans side was Luke Ablett.

When have I said that 'crap' before?

I don't have a "preconceived idea" of his game - I have based it on watching him since his started.

You think he is an effective midfielder?

Great - defensive midfield is just what we need!

I know. I agree we need to be more attacking, but I think you will find the problem is the midfield coach rather than the players (it is interesting to note how defensive St Kilda's game plan is these days). I know we have both said that it would be good to see players like Ablett let loose to attack. He is the type of player with a run and his booming kick can get the ball moving 70 metres.

I think the kid can play, but am continually frustrated at the team plan that places more importance on stopping your opponent than on out playing them in an attacking way.

I don't really think we are that far apart in our opinions, just that we express them differently.

Brady Rawlings did a god job on stopping Luke Hodge on the weekend, as well as being an effective attacking player.

                            IMHO Rawlings=Poo.

I definitely agree that I'd like to see Ablett be allowed to do more.
But I also think that he could do more within the current (ugly) structure - Kirk does.
