Cheering for Collingwood

How any neutral supporter can cheer for Collingwood tonight is beyond me.
The Cats have clearly been the best team all year, haven't won it for a long time, their players are generally likeable, and they play an attractive style of football.
I live in Melbourne and this so-called Geelong love-fest from the media just doesn't exist. Do you expect them not to be praised in match reviews and previews?
I've developed a healthy amount of respect for the way the Magpies have gone about their football this September, but it still comes down to a battle between good and evil.
Go Cats!Leave a comment:

Just the usual banter and it's not all about how good Geelong are.
COLLINGWOOD coach Mick Malthouse believes his young team possesses that something special, the "X-factor" that turns a good side into a champion side with the potential to win premierships."In some ways, this could have been Mick's hardest year of coaching," said president Eddie McGuire. Instead, it has become, in McGuire's estimation, not just his best at Collingwood, but "one of the best years of coaching of anyone since I've been watching footy".Query on the Cats under MCG lights
GEELONG has played fearless football all year, but it has reason to be afraid of the dark.
The Cats have not won a game under lights at the MCG since their 2004 semi-final victory against Essendon.
Danny Frawley, former Richmond coach and Collingwood assistant, last night warned of the power of the Magpie army at its home ground.
"I just reckon if it's halfway through the third quarter, the scores are level and the Collingwood army is in full voice, there may be just a little bit of panic from Geelong," Frawley said.Leave a comment:

People keep talking about how much the media is raving about Geelong and I really haven't see it, except in the context of this year. Seems a very strange reason to barrack for Collingwood.
As for Geelong fans, every team has bad fans.Leave a comment:

Actually, I'm not bitter. If I were, I would be going for Geelong. I don't even dislike the actual Geelong Football Club.
But, as wonderful as this team is, I don't believe they are as good as the 2000 Bombers team was and yet the media, commentators and the AFL itself carry on like they are the greatest team to ever have played the game and that is more the reason for my loyalties this weekend, to "stick it up them" so to speak.
I also dislike (with great intensity) Geelong fans and find them decidedly unpleasant. On the other hand, I have attended every Sydney V Collingwood game for the last six years and have never had a problem with any of Collingwood supporters win, lose or draw.Leave a comment:

Spot on Jewels. I'm supporting the Pies as well.Sorry, but I'm going for the Pies tomorrow night. I'm sick and tired of the love fest surrounding all things Geelong in the media and the AFL, I much prefer Pie supporters to Cat supporters and I think it would show what a joke the AA is, if half the AA team get defeated by a team that had no one good enough to even be selected in the squad.Leave a comment:

I think that Jewels had a nasty experience at Kardinina park - I would gladly put up with a nasty experience at KP than have to sit amoungst and be spat at by the pies neanderthals any day (well it isnt easy keeping saliva in ones mouth without the protection of teeth - and to try and speak with words of more than one syllable is foreigh to pies supporters!)Originally posted by Dr DiabolicalSounds like you're from Adelaide!

You can always tell someone who doesn't live in Melbourne when they make posts like this.Sorry, but I'm going for the Pies tomorrow night. I then hope that on grand final day, the Power come out and kick their black and white butts from one end of the MCG to the other and the cup stays out of Victoria for yet another year!
