    Matt Maguire

Not a big reader of bigfooty, but the rumours on there are that Maguire is looking at changing clubs.

Would be a plus in terms of filling a hole in the backline for our key position problems. Obviously the price could be an issue.

Despite all the expected waffle about him being 'soft' (isn't everyone who is not a 'Blood' ) he'd probably be useful at CHB for us. Still, I think we need midfielders more.

He may actually create a midfielder for us
A backline made up say Maguire at FB and LRT at CHB would push Barry or B2 out to HB? This would free up a move for Kennelly or Malceski to move into the midfield

Another overrated player who has never produced the goods. Before he was injured he was next to useless and as loose as grannies' teeth. For a big bloke is very easily knocked off his feet in a contest.

They dont call him Goose for nothing. No thanks.

We need to dvelop players in the mould of Heath Shaw and Goldsack at the Pies who have nous about them.

We need another back man like the Wee girls need another off the field incident.

Our defence doesn't need bolstering, just every other aspect of our game

I agree RP, defence is not such a problem, it was our midfield that let us down this year. Plus the fact we have no real "receivers" who can run away from their opponent out of the middle. If we are to trade, it needs to be an established "outside" midfielder.

The defence may have been the best performed unit this season - by some margin -but that doesn't mean it doesn't need rejuvenation.

I'm a big Leo fan and think many under-estimate what he's achieved back there over the past few years given his physical limitations. But even I am willing to concede that if we continue to depend on him to play as FB in the twilight of his career, things are going to get hairier down there.

And we are so reliant on Craig Bolton not getting injured it ain't funny. At least the forward line showed this year that it can function adequately in Hall's absence. But if Bolton were to get injured with the current supporting cast it would be pretty much season over.

I think McGuire would be a great pick up. Have always thought this. Just the type we need to free up our smaller backmen.

He also used to barrack for the Swans..something to do with an Uncle ..forgotten the exact details.

You mean free up Bevo so he can use his scintillating pace to run the lines and his exquisite, pin point passing accuracy to hit Davo on the chest rather than passing back to Mathews in the back pocket.

Get real our backs will be spending their time picking up Goose's man.

I meant freeing up the likes of B2 so he doesn't have to fight out of his weight range so often. He must be absolutely exhausted after this season.

Totally disagree with this view. As Liz pointed out, if B2 went down we'd be in all sorts of trouble.

I was surprised when Allison suggested they were looking at a key forward, as I would have thought a full back should be the priority. Maybe the order should be 1) midfield, 2) defence, 3) forward line.
