Is Goodes our only "elite" player?

I remember a game at the WACA in 1996 against West Coast where the Swans were convincingly beaten but only in the final quarter (it marked the start of their run to the top). After that game I think it was Mick Malthouse who suggested that PK should just be given all 6 Brownlow votes.Comment

The others definitely are, based on the last 12 months. But I reckon Lloyd is the only one who has been better over the journey.Bloods

Originally posted by Dr DiabolicalI think C Bolton is probably an elite defender.
Hall has been an elite forward for a few years (excluding this year).
MOL was an elite player in his prime, but probably not any more.
Kennelly would be an elite half back.
Malceski has the potential to become the same.
O'Keefe has the potential to become an elite half forward.
Difficult to define Kirk - probably not elite because his disposal is a bit suspect.
That's probably about it.
I'd class Elite as the cream of the crop. As opposed to excellent or champion etc. So that means there are maybe 1-3 maximum per club classed as elite. As far as this year is concerned Goodes is our only elite player.
Judd, Kerr, Cornes, Ablett, Brown, Riewoldt, Brown, Mcleod would probably be in that same classification.
As far as players who have the potential to be "elite" or "the cream" from the Swans, I'd say O'Keefe, Malceski, Bolton.
BBBBH was a notable ommission but in the last 3 years he has been elite although hasn't done the inspirational stuff like the Browns, Treadreas of this world for a big key forward.Comment

I'm happy with the "how many sides would they be a walk up start in?" with 15, not including their own being the cut off for "elite".
On that basis, Goodes, Kenelly maybe Bolton CI wish my weed was EMO so it would cut itselfComment

If that is the criteria then, love him or not understand football, Davis should be included.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

MickyO - has-a-been!!!!
Indeed.
Swantastic, I'm going to drop you again if you keep up talk like this.
Someone should tell him he's now a has-been. Go on. I dare you.
MOL's playing like a 22 year old trapped in a 30 year old body (kinda like me!!). Micky's got at least another two years (and maybe a bit) left in him.
