I am sitting here at work on Footy Fever day with the number 23 on my back.
You name it in red and white and I've got it on(even carried evrything to work today in my Swans shopping bag).
23....my birthday number. Didn't mind Matthew Nicks except when he kept falling over. That drove me mad. I'm sure there was something wrong with his balance. Bob Pratt wore it early on. Shook hands with him in '96 at the "G". His hands were huge..no wonder he could take a good mark. So I'm happy with 23.
Chambers wore it last year and he became a virtual cult figure so that was ok with me too. Still out on this year's receipient of my precious number."The Dog days are over, The Dog days are gone" Florence and the MachineComment

As a kid I had the number 15 ready to put on the back of my guernsey (for Bernard Toohey), but never got around to it. It didn't hold much for me as a number after he left.
David Rhys-Jones had previously been my favourite player - until he went back to Melbourne (a very sad day) - I can't remember his number though.
However, as an iconic number, 14 clearly stands out - and always will.Comment
