    History of Pick 26

It's impossible to predict how we'll use the pick, but history shows that there's nothing to get too excited about.

Rivers would be the only one of that lot who is better than Schneider and Edwards from the superdraft has shown a bit.

Lets hope that Ricky can recruit a player that is the equal of or better than Adam Schneider (and Dempster), but the chances are pretty slim

    2006 Shane Edwards - Richmond

    Too early to tell

    2005 Garrick Ibbotson - Fremantle

Played one match in 2007, jury still out

    2004 Matthew Little - Hawthorn

Average player who will probably be delisted this year

    2003 Daniel McConnell - WCE

Traded to Kangaroos and delisted last month

    2002 Jarred Rivers - Melbourne

    Great Pick up, quality player

    2001 Aaron Rogers - Melbourne

Delisted and rookied by Swans, delisted again

Ibbotson will be a quality player.

      What about pick (recent years)
      60 (Schneider)
      64 (Malceski)
      29 (Schmidt)
      45 (Buchanan)

      5 (McVeigh)

Doesn't alway matter what number they are picked, it can still be a lottery.

Yes but obviously the higher the pick, the greater chance of success.

Would you have been happy to trade pick 11 for Henry Playfair?

If I remember correctly, both Goodsey and Magic Mick were picks over 40. It's what the coaches do with the picks that makes the difference.

I can't wait to see what the blues are going to do with 3 #1 draftees AND Judd.
          Interesting.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

You can't just look at #26 - you need to look at what went after as well.

We are in a pretty strong drafting position really.

              Pick 11, 26 and Bird.

Bird is rated as a late first round pick.
So two first round, and one second round player.

As usual we will take the three players required and top up our rookie list.

That must be a trifle over-optimistic. He was available on the open market last year, and nobody took him, even with pick 80. And it wasn't like no-one knew his name back then, either. Obviously his stocks have risen, but not that much.

Just repeating what I have been hearing. Late first round or early second round is what I heard.

Doyle was picked up at #26 back in 1999, here's hoping we don't recruit another injury-prone player.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore
