More proof of the Bolton aura in Melbourne

Jude Bolton and his desire to thrown himself head first into packs without regard for his own safety make him indispensable according to Ian Stewart.

AFL legend Ian Stewart says Sydney's decision to consider trading Jude Bolton is a sad indictment on the modern game.

"It's just absurd a player with his qualities can be seen to be dispensable," Stewart said yesterday. "It's crazy. We have to address the rules so that players like him aren't eradicated from the game. Next year, it will be Brett Kirk."

I can't kick, handball or run but I can throw myself into packs basically because I'm a fearless idiot. Based on this criteria I am available for Pick 11.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I read that yesterday and couldn't believe it.

Probably the most overrated footballer in the competition.

The importance of the "tough nut" in AFL footy (country football probably not so much) has been reduced by:

          1. The umpires protecting their selected list of "pure ball winners"
          2. The crackdown on the shirtfront
          3. The softer interpretation of marking contest contact
          4. Massive fines and suspensions for fighting or even putting your eyebrows down
          5. Fat padding on the goalpasts.
          6. No concrete around the boundary.
          etc etc

There is a drive recently to make the game a faster, less physically contested game. I don't know why or where they are trying to go with the changes but it is reducing the need for a player who mainly "goes in hard", can take a knee to the back of the head or likes to get the biff on.

If Jude was traded last week, do you think The Age or Herald Sun would publish an article titled "Swans fans furious at Jude Trade"? I reckon they would and hype him up as a premiership hero and try to make us feel guilty because we "let him go."

I'm sure nobody on RWO would be angry, unless we got ripped off with a 4th or 5th round pick in return.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Anything less than a top 10 pick and i would have been very annoyed

Just because he doesn't have the flair of an Adam Goodes posters on here underrate his importance to the team

Its just as well posters on here have no say in who gets traded. Otherwise we would have a team full of Schneiders.

I agree with what Stewie was saying which was if the administrators allow the game to get quicker and quicker, then you do so at the expense of other skills.

Al, We'd be signing you up on the same contract conditions as Whitnall.

It is the off season... Pretty much anything said by any ex-footballer will get printed. Especially if Sheahan's involved.
