Reading between the lines does this mean that changed training methods translates to more speed and less dourness, while making sure the around the ground defensive skills are lifted a cog. In 2007 our forward defensive skills for mine was a weakness.

....and another thing. Lets hope the game plan has one particular focus; winning the ball cleanly out of the centre.

Unfortunately it's here in black and white...

I dont understand our need for more defensive work ,except maybe in our F50.What we need is too practice attacking quickly,I know we can do it because when we do we are swantastic.

Don't see the problem with more defensive work.

r22 against Hawthorn, the defensive work, especially in the first half, was superb right around the ground. Team scored 22 goals.

The week before and the week following, the defensive work was shocking, with tackles missed, broken or just not attempted, and the ball rebounded with absurd ease from our forward 50m. Team got thumped both times.

We already are one of the biggest tight arses in defence as it is.The 2 weeks your talking about we were crap all over the ground, about the tackles that was just lazyness.

When the club talks about improving defensive work, I presume it is their tackling around the ground, hard running and harrassing they are talking about, not extra sessions for Bolton, Barry and co.

Your probably right, but the things you mentioned should be second nature to professional AFL footballers. If they dont do those 1%'s then they should be dragged from the ground and it shouldn't matter who they are.

I reckon shes spot on.. And imagine if they did pull players for not giving 100% around the ground, we would have had the reserves playing most of the year..

Agreed. I'm positive the swans coaching staff feel that when our defensive work is on song, the forward flair sort of falls into place. R22 particularly comes to mind as above.

I'd like to see training in the areas of Plan B,C,D,E etc. What to try when plan A is not working. When we were getting beaten on 2007 we had almost no counter attack - no real plan to get us back into the game. It used to be we could shut the other teams down - stop the scoring, then when we have the ascendancy presss the accelorator and off we went to win. The majority of teams this year knew what to do when we tried to close the game down.
