    New Component of RWO. (WIKI)

    With much fanfare and drumroll,

    I give you RWO Wiki

A Sydney Swans Encyclopaedia, that you can be part of.
Every registered user of RWO has instant access to RWO Wiki.

It is a place where you can help build a complete history of the Sydney Swans/South Melbourne Football Clubs.

If you've used to Wikipedia, or even helped update Wikipedia, RWO Wiki works exactly the same way.

Currently there is some basic information in there, some templates, some information copied from the Archives of RWO. It is now up to you to complete the story.
    • Sydney Swans Club History
    • Season History
    • Team Lists
    • Draft History
    • Honour Rolls
    • Every player
    • Brownlow votes
    • Reserves
    • Sydney AFL (if they want)
    • etc....
Anything that you can think of that is related to the Swans, can be kept here.

I hope you take it on board, I know there are many people with vast knowledge from South Melbourne days, and people with lots of information relating to the Sydney Swans and their evolution from the the dour days through to the recent success.

I only ask that you treat it with respect, and don't abuse it.
Changes and additions will be monitored, but it will not be moderated. That is your job. It is your site.
Abuse or misuse WILL NOT be tolerated.
I will eventually assign some people with a higher user rights, to give more ownership to the people who appreciate this new concept.

So when you are bored, instead of hanging around the forums, get onto the Wiki, get it up to date, it will be a constant WIP.

Help is available. I've listed some of the more helpful hints pages of the Main Page.
Getting Started: MediaWiki - basic editing
    Other helpful pages:
    Detailed Help
    Templates
Please use this area to test changes, rather than any of the live data areas. It will be cleared out regularly.

Or ask me, and I'll do my best to help.

I've included some extensions for security, extra edit buttons and some basic maths functions.

Please Enjoy. I really hope we can make it a great source of information.

        Great idea!
Although you're missing a lot of information pages on past and present players...but I understand it's still undergoing development.
My Pokemon brings all the boys to the yard and they're like "Wanna trade cards?"
"Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I can beat you, I've got Charizard!"

That's where you ALL come in. It is for everyone to update it.

It is far too much work for a few people.

Good work Scott, a good idea for promoting a community kind of a feel (not to suggest there isn't one already). Well done.

Do you have a format you want followed for player pages (I notice there is already a Jolly one, should that be used as a basic template?)?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I only did Jolly after his Contract was renewed. no other reason.

                LOL.

There is no template, but it would be a good idea.
I have set up a couple for the scores. They are a little tricky to set up, but once there, it would look much better if they profiles all looked the same.

Can I mention how 41,000 people sang "Carey is a wanker" (and ended up being right)?
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Alrighty, I just added quite a lot of content on the Reserves for 2007. The template for the details of each round is in Round 1 so if anyone would like to help me fill out the rest of the rounds that would be great.

If anyone has more details about the pre-Canberra days (e.g number of players sent to Port Melbourne), please feel free to fill it out as my memories of those days are sketchy.

And finally, if anyone is a guru with these Wiki markups please give a hand with my ugly formatting

No we were wrong - if he was a wanker he would have got into far less trouble than he did with the missus!

Sorry for the OT bit! The wiki looks great guys!

Ugg, iirc we sent 12 players each week to Port Melbourne. Anyone is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong though!

I am not a whiz with computers but if my memory serves me correct it was between 8 - 12 players per week, depending on injuries etc. I think the limit set by the VFL was 12 ... Those were great days. I wish we would go back to Port Melbourne. It would be better experience for the reserves rather then playing in Canberra.

Great work on the page 2 everyone

Thanks sr4e and melb_swan012. I knew the VFL limit was 12 but I wasn't sure whether Port had its own rules. I remember reading somewhere, perhaps BF, that they limited it to 6.

Thanks to Frog, the scores for all premiership matches are now up, dating back to 1897.
