Schneider was replaced by a winger in Mattner so there's another into the midfield.

Laidlaw and DOK are speed coming into the side

Braba, Thornton, Bird and Moore to come in as well.

Hall, Magic and Leo have 1-2 years left leaving us with only White, Faulks (not a true KPP looking at him in ressies) and Playfair to come in as KPP players. Brennan is a flanker.

If we choose 11 on Rance, he will be the immediate replacement to Leo.
If we choose 26 on say Robbie Tarrant, he will be the immediate replacement for Hall (White can go to CHF).
    I agree whole heartedly.

we have many midfielders behind the scene, our KP stocks are wailing, Rance is a ten year player as he defends BUT rebounds also,

my ideal draft would be robbie tarrant & Alex Rance.

we definatly need KP Gourdis could come into the picture if Rance has been taken. hopefully not Collier cause i dont believe he can hold down a KP.

Swans are looking at Andy Ottens and are supposably EXTREMELY keen.

      DOK is not particularly quick.

Brennan is the same height as Barry and I think will be used as a third defender(assuming he doesn't have the same capabilities as Leo to play out of his height and weight division). That is assuming he's used at all. Others disagree but I see him as very much a marginal player on the list.

He certainly doesn't look quick enough to be used in a Kennelly style flanker role.

Neither Rance nor Tarrant will be immediate replacements for anyone if they are picked. They are probably little better than 50/50 propositions to ever play senior football, but even if they do, it will be a few years down the track before they can hold down key positions. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be drafted - indeed, it highlights the need to draft some replacements now rather than wait another year or two.

My money is on a running / ball carrying mid at 11 and a NQR tall at 26 (almost all the talls in this draft seem to be NQR, judging by the comments of those whose opinion seems worth listening to).

I dont know what experts you've been listening too,but plenty on melbourne radio reckon there is and if you want experts on footy you listen to Melbourne radio not Sydney radio. There is 3 in the top five picks over 190cm,if thats not tall well im a friggen midget then. This is just in the top 5......

              Matthew Kreuzer..Pick 1
Has been the likely No.1 pick for close to a year. The mobile Ruckman / Forward is exactly what the Blues are looking for to compliment a midfield that will comprise players of the calibre of Chris Judd, Nick Stevens, Marc Murphy & Bryce Gibbs. Kreuzer is an outstanding athlete with great endurance. His efforts in the 3km time trial ( 10min 51sec ) & Beep Test ( 14.2 ) at the Draft camp placed him in the elite group. Standing at 199.5cm & a fierce competitive edge gives the impression of an AFL star of the future.

              Cale Morton.Pick 4
Had a wonderful National U/18 carnival for WA winning the Larke Medal for the best player of the championships. At 191.5cm Morton is capable of playing a number of positions, midfield, wing, half back / half forward & in time could even develop into a key forward. He has good pace & is an exceptional kick.

              Jarrad Grant.Pick 5
An exceptionally talented key forward who could be ?anything?. He is super quick off the mark & tested in the top 5% ( 2.89sec ) in the 20m sprint at the Draft Camp. Only slightly built so will take some time to develop a body to match his 192cm frame. With the Bulldogs in need of a marking forward, Grant shapes as the likely pick.

You clearly didn't grow up with my mum!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Kruezer and Morton are kind of irrelevant to Sydney's options given that neither will be available at pick 11. And Morton doesn't shape up as a true KPP either (anymore than Dempster or Kennelly are).

As for the rest, if you read stuff from people who have actually watched these players play regularly (which I haven't), there are wildly different opinions on each of Grant, Henderson, Gourdis, Pears, Rance etc etc. In particular, those who watch football in the west seem to be a lot cooler on Gourdis, Rance and Pears than those who only saw the excellent performances from the WA team at the U18s. That doesn't mean that some of them won't go onto become very good players, but all of them seem to have far more question marks over them than the taller players from last year.

You are correct there are different opinions on all these players, and there are ? marks over all of them IMO.Experts from Victoria seem to think that the cream of the crop comes from victoria and its the same from the rest of the states. But generally the best players come from Victoria.

I heard an interview today from the Geelong Falcons coach i think, who said the Swans will be in trouble in the next 2/3 years for trading away our high draft picks in the last 5 years.I sort of agree with him but our strategy has brought us success so i guess only time will tell if he is correct but lets hope he is wrong.

Schnieder is not really quick either. We do look a little slow, however we have lacked a classy outside midfielder since paul williams. and even then he was not all too quick. i think Laidlaw can be groomed in this role. with Barlow an apprentice to Goodes
Finally someone who agrees with me abt Barlow being the next Goodes.
