    2007 Scorecard - #2 Nick Davis

Tis a long off season... And whilst we have the time on our hands, let's critique each players performance in 2007.

Let's go in numerical order and each have our two cents worth on their performance for the year. Players will get changed/updated as soon as the dust settles on each players review and everyone's had their say.

Most importantly, everyone needs to give each player a rating out of 10 so we can reasonabley measure their performance... In your opinion of Course

    6.5/10.....

When he was hot, he was hot. When he wasn't... Boy, was he average.

Went missing far to often in 07 though Roos moving him away from goal probably didn't help. Whilst he was contributing up the ground, he wasn't at his devastating best which is of course, around the goals.

07 started pretty well and the man from KFC looked to be in great shape and on top of his dietary downfalls. However, as the year dragged out, so did his form. Yet again a victim of poor service from the midfield when he was fwd, but probably didn't do himself a lot of good either.

Has the ability to be so much more, but all often fails to reach those expectations.

Needs to be more comitted but more importantly, a whole lot more consistant on 08. He WILL be a vaital part of the flag race for us in 08. If he fires, our chances go up dramatically.

6/10 - lots of talent, bursts of brilliance, ignored too much, but needs to try harder. Sometimes I think the fans expect too much though - after all he was one of our best goalkickers this year.

4/10. Kick it to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Unfortunately, you can't kick goals from the back. IMO, I reckon those six weeks in Coventry psychologically affected the other players. He wasn't an option for them a lot of the time - even if he was by himself in front of the goal square. Trust is obviously a big deal to these guys.

RP's spent the pre-season love-festing Tricky Nicky ... I expected a lot more. It's good to see at the end of the season, I was indeed right.

Much ado about nothing. At least he kept off the KFC. I hope he's sat down and had a good long hard look. 2008 is time to lift. If he doesn't, he's still tradable.

        Can we do McVeigh now?

7/10. He is a deadset gun. Underrated. Pretty close to my favourite swan.

Sure, he's hot and and cold but 33 goals from a small forward is more than acceptable.

I'm always happy when the ball is his hands within scoring range. What a kick!

Can do better (get the feeling I'll be writing this a lot as we do these round ups)

I still like what I see from him when he's firing, but it would be nice to see more of it!!

CJK: I was thinking the same thing re 'Can do better'. Sums up our year, really.

6/10 seems like a lifetime ago that they broke him.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

If they kicked it to him he'd had 72 for the year.

Showed the clearance king he is in the midfield, when he was able to run from the pack and pump it deep into 50 - against the explicit instructions of Roos.

Should be in the centre for EVERY centre bounce, then drift forward.

We can only hope for 2008.

6/10 Same old nicky D. gotta love him though.

Best set shot in the Swans by a country mile.

Looked good in the midfield in bursts. Always seemed to be creating something.

5.5 - can do much better. Maybe they should stick his eyes open (Clockwork Orange style) and make him watch Qtr EF 2005. As others have said , when he is hot he is awesome, but ....

Has too many lazy periods, but when he has the ball, it is in safe hands.
The long bomb against the pies when 70% of the crowd was booing him was one example of his skill. Love the one handed push offs.

7.0/10 - did the job he was told (a waste sometimes IMO). Ignored by the midfield far too often when free and in striking distance. Showed a lot of improvement over 2006. Kicked some superb goals and is all class in F50.
                          Cannons looked nice and shiny.

                            so it was a 5/10 + 1 for each cannon = 7/10!!

7/10 - still has credits in my book for the 2005 EF. This year he showed some improvement, hopefully goes further in 2008.

N.D. has talent to burn but lacks the consistent never-say-die attitude that turns a gifted player into a champion.
