In fact, Ben tied for 7th in the B&F - with Leo. So Ben clearly plays a role that isn't too flash but is what he's asked to do. He, like Jude, was in the Top 10 of the coaches' rankings but Nick D and Baz weren't. The two rounding out the top 10 were Jolly and Jude. (Starting from the top, the order was Brett, Esky, B2 - when will he become B1? - Goodes, Ryan and Spida then Leo and Ben.)

If we were voting on the flashiest player I'd give him 1/10 but scoring him as one of the Swans' team I'll give him 6/10.

1 out of 10. Playing with his usual flair, speed, attack on the ball and skill..And no doubt we'll get more of the same next year.

He's a defensive player and does the job he's asked to do. Pure and simple. We might not like it, but that how things are. For defensive team like ours he's a "perfect" fit.

What would that be..... to win matches? Now there's a novel thing for fans to want the players to do.

I thought he had some good games, and some ordinary ones as well.
Not one of his best years but still showed at times why he is there.
                5/10.

Never been any good. His lead to the defensive point post in the EF destroyed any semlence of credibility - 0/10.

Who was it who kicked it to him?

I still like to think that Benny-Boy is our only workhorse. Every team needs a workhorse. He's the fittest of all of them, by far. More often than not, he does his job and does it well. It's like you don't know he's there, until he's stopped the ball. Unfortunately, his effective disposal skills are not that good. Stepping down from the leadership group may take some pressure off him - like Hally, allow him to concentrate more on improving his game.

                            6.5/10
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Turning your back on the play and stopping your man looks great from your own perspective, but not so great from a team perspective. More than once in the defensive 50 Mathews ran away from an opponent with the ball to cover his own opponent and allowing a goal to be kicked. Did the same thing around the ground on too many occasions.
