Stadium Australia renamed in $31m deal - The Australian
Isn't there already an ANZ Stadium in Brisbane?
Naming grounds after sponsors is too confusing sometimes.
Stadium officials said there was no association with Brisbane's QEII Commonwealth Games stadium, which was also known as ANZ Stadium for a period but has since reverted back to its original name.
Helps distinguish between Telstra Stadium and Telstradome, so an improvement if you ask me.
Makes no difference to me. I'm hardly about to run out and open an ANZ a/c because the Swans are playing there, same as I don't bother insuring with QBE unless they are the lowest rate. If QBE cannot offer me a 'mates' rate because I'm a longtime supporter and member of the Swans, they can go and go jump.
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09
Naming it Telstra Stadium never made me any more sympathetic to Telstra , any more than ANZ will give me warm fuzzy thoughts about them.
But i do look out for Swans sponsors..and always call QBE for a quote. I reckon they do a good job quoting, and their Swans sponsorship was through thick and thin!!
AND I dont even work for them...!!

Right on. I asked QBE if I got a discount for being a swans member. Short answer. No.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun. Blessedare the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
There are two names I know it as the white elephant of the west and Olympic
Some people are so stuck in the past (it's new, so I don't like it).
I went to Telstra Stadium for the St Kilda game this year. Great view of the playing surface, easily accessible by public transport (home to my sister in laws place in Newtown in an hour). I don't know why some people hate it so much.

... because when it's not being "used", the whole area is termed a white elephant. It's a very quiet place. The only time it's "on the go" for longer than a few hours is during the Easter Show.
They show free movies in January at the Overflow (the grassy area next to the stadium). They have bike trails everywhere. There's also a lot of free kids entertainment organised for summer.
They've started building the residential units in the "Olympic district". That'll make the place seem a bit more alive.
I love it - but I'm a local and I use it. I'm glad they're changing the name - too many "telstra's" in AFL.

Its an events precinct, so of course, when there are no events, its going to be quiet?
For it to be considered useful and thus not a white elephant, does it have to be bouncing along every single day as it was during the 2 week olympics?
Look at the Entertainment Quarter (Fox Studios), SCG & SFS area when there is nothing on... its like a ghost town?
Considering how much Telstra Stadium (Now ANZ Stadium i guess) gets used, as well as the ever increasing popularity of events at Acer Arena, i wouldn't be calling it a white elephant, as it generates plenty of business and as a result, money!
I've always called it Stadium Australia, and will continue to do so.
