    No more Nth Sydney game

    Source

Ireland said this year the North Sydney game would be replaced by a late-afternoon, inter-club clash at south Melbourne's Lakeside Oval on February 8. The following Sunday, the Swans will play Hawthorn in the opening round of the NAB Cup at Launceston's Aurora Stadium.
Not sure if they mean 'intra' as opposed to 'inter'.
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

When we want to tease the 11-year-old we'll rib her by regurgitating her kids speak of the past eg. "we find that comment very 'interstring' ".

What a bummer, I love the North Sydney Oval game. It was a great chance to see the boys early in the season and the atmosphere was terrific.
It appears now that we in Sydney, won't get to see them until the season proper begins.

The lake Oval in South Melbourne? Isn't that Bob Jane Stadium these days? It's a bit hard to play footy on a rectangle pitch.

          That is terrible news.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

            That's VERY disappointing.

I always looked forward to this game. After the looooong off-season footy drought, the atmosphere was always fantastic!

It was a terrific opportunity for to get to know and check out all the young guys and the new swannies.

I am a little surprised given that this game has always been well attended (better than NAB cup games).

I also wish they would bring back a family day in Sydney. Not sure why they scrapped that -- even though they still have on in Melbourne.

Yes, I totally agree. In my opinion, they do so little in the way of meet and greet (especially for young families) in Sydney now.

Maybe they did mean inter-club . . . . . a practice match against South Melbourne FC (soccer club).

Excellent...modified rules as in Ireland/Gaelic footy. I want to be the person that releases the dog onto the pitch.

Questions: 1. What shape ball? I want to see the soccer players dribbling an oval ball.
                  2. Tackling allowed?....yes please..them they would be able to dive legitimately. We could channel all that pent up bitterness left over from the world cup.

Exactly right, the best we can hope for is a practice match in Newcastle. It's a joke.

I understand what you are saying, but our point is that they are the SYDNEY Swans, but SYDNEY fans won't get to see them in SYDNEY until March 30 for round 2.

no offence guys but for old south melbourne fans we are lucky to see our team 5 times a year.
the afl give us 5 melbourne games plus one in geelong which is very hard to get into,we would love more but as WE are now the sydney swans we have to accept what we get.
the north sydney game was a bonus for sydney fans, but at least you are able to see our club play at least 11 times a year.

                              Ah what a shame.
northern end, goal-kickers had to negotiate the overhanging Moreton Bay fig.
No wonder the bloody moved the game with a stupid tree hanging over.
