    Cafe breakfast reignites Kangaroo fears

    According to journalist Charles Happell.
    Cafe breakfast reignites Kangaroo fears

A couple of quotes of note from the overheard conversation.

Happell also said Demetriou told Gale he expected the Roos to be out of business "within six months".
"Unless you had earmuffs on, there was no escaping the conversation," wrote Happell, who earlier in the article said Demetriou's "voice knows only one volume setting: foghorn".

Gale said Gold Coast-North Melbourne was just one of several discussion topics. "I reckon we spoke about the Gold Coast for five minutes and to be honest, I'm trying to think what we talked about on that," Gale said.

        The Kangaroos were stupid.

There are no power games here.
        No one calling another's bluff.
        The was an offer.
A one off offer that should have been carefully considered, and now everyone will have little sympathy for the doomed Kangaroos.

Let's all watch and see what would have become of the Swans had they not relocated......

I wonder how carefully the offer was considered in the end, it looks like it has been dealt with on a purely emotional basis by the Kangaroos (which I can understand, to a degree) and it doesn't look like anybody has actually crunched serious numbers on this. The AFL offer looked pretty good to me.

It wouldnt be the same without the Kangaroos. I'd hate to see them fold, but I do wonder about the decision. It's like the Melbourne/Hawthorn merger. Neither club went with what everyone thought was the best option. Both of those clubs are still around.

They have apparently already surpassed there 10,000 members by xmas.
The new chairman had issued a challenge to the Kangaroos' faithful to have 10,000 members signed up by Christmas, but the club has already secured 12,047.

Yeah, but with a limited number of supporters, where are they going to get extra members?

I am very interested in the outcome of this....merely as a study of history.

The North situation strikes a chord with the events that Paul Roos wrote about in his book "Beyond 300" as regards the demise of Fitzroy. There was a lot of emotional outpouring and repeated plans of survival that became more and more ridiculous, I ask you...the bank of Nauru?????? I will be interested to see if history repeats itself in the Fitzroy being replaced by Port manner.

Brayshaw may be very intelligent for all I know but he seems to me to be repeating the mistakes of the past...Hilter not learning from Napoleon as regard Invading Russia,USA not learning from Vietnam as regards Iraq.He not learning from the mistakes of Fitzroy or the positive steps of Hawthorn embracing Tassie. North are retreating to North Melbourne rather than expanding.
The Roos have the stench of death surrounding them.

Who is the greater strategist,,Brayshaw or the Fat Controller?

Agree with your comments Satch. Where are the new generations of football supporters coming from for the Kangaroos? Corporate support for a battling club will only last so long. Ultimately they will go where the most members and supporters are and that's Collingwood, Essendon etc.
