Ex-Swannies keeping flocking to South Aust

After Stephen Doyle and Mathew Davis signed for Norwood in the SANFL, now Simon Phillips has joined Norwood as well.

I wondered where Phillips would turn up.

And former Sydney Swan and ex West Adelaide stud Matthew Nicks has been appointed as a development coach at Glenelg

Swans start fielding a team in SANFL! (Kind of)

Well, maybe not quite, but this would have to be the largest roll-call of ex-Swans players ever recruited by one club in one season:
Stephen Doyle, Simon Phillips, Matt Davis and Sam Rowe are all lining up for Norwood in the SANFL in 2008.

They're all genuine recruits, rather than just boys coming home: Phillips and Rowe are from Vic, Doyle's original home club was South Adelaide, and Davis' North Adelaide.

Plus Josh Willoughby wants to move over to Norwood (I wonder why?), but he's contracted to Glenelg and they don't want to release him.

Talk about convergence of interest-- it's a pleasure to see the two footy clubs I feel passionate about, developing so much in common.

To this point, Norwood has provided the Swans with plenty of talent over the years-- Scott Robinson, Adam Heuskes, Jared Crouch, Nic Fosdike, Heath Grundy-- without so much going the other way, apart from one of many early-90s Swans short-termers, Robbie Neill, who came via St Kilda and wound up being a Norwood club champion in the new millenium (and Dale Lewis getting a coaching gig with the Legs in 2005).

All Swans supporters can now join me in saying: go Legs in 2008.

        I'm all for legs.

        Without a SANFL team to support . . . . I'm in.
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

I'd sooner throw myself off Glenelg Pier and into the jaws of a white pointer!!

I rate myself as having a pretty good memory for players, especially for that era, but be buggered if I can recall him either.

Any details of appearance, position etc?
