    Ed Barlow

    Boy was I disappointed. Was hoping for exciting things today and I saw a player that looked as though he had only taken the game up recently. He was always just that bit too far a way from where he needed to be to be effective. Reminded me of the first time I saw Tadhg play when he first came out here. Trying really hard but always that bit too late or a bit too close for a handball or that bit too slow to release or that bit too clumsy.


    Not on this bandwagon.

      He didn't have a good game today - or even a decent one. But just as it's too soon to start getting excited about Bird or O'Dwyer based on just one game, I don't think you can't write Barlow off either. We've seen he's capable of much much more. Some players just take a little longer to blow the cobwebs away.

      (OK, we're permitted to get just a teeny bit excited about Bird.)

                  To be honest he just today he just played like when he played against Col last year. The difference being we know he can play well too. One foot on the bandwagon

                      First NAB Cup game last year P46 sent me a text, it read: "How bad is this Ed Barlow, an absolute shocker".

                      Maybe he needs a few under his belt to get the pace of the game again. I just hope it is not a case of "head too big". Looked like a millionaire played like a pauper. I would have expected him to jump out of the blocks and try to play a lead role.

                          I think they need to turn him into a KPP rather than a mini-Goodes.

                              My guess is that he possibly was expecting to play a lead role - almost trying too hard, rather than just concentrating doing his bit. Much as Goodes has been inclined to do at times, especially when not at his best.

                              People I've spoken to who know Barlow say he's a great bloke, so hopefully a big head is not an issue. I think we just have to temper our immediate expectations of him and remember he's still very raw and has a huge amount to learn.
