    Judd to captain Blues

    Blues announce captain.

Judd still hasn't done any competitive training after undergoing groin surgery in the off-season, but the club hopes he will be available for round one of the Tesltra AFL Premiership with a brief pre-season appearance also possible.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Can't they think of something different other than stupid Judd?

Nick Stevens would have been the better option.

That's pretty insulting to the rest of the team isn't it?

I would think that they should have made a captain from the guys who have been slogging it out for a while - not from someone who has just joined the fold ... no matter how good a player he is perceived.

They could have had co-captains and maybe given him one of the possies. IMO, it just seems like a kick in the guts to the other players.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

It's a tough one. I don't overly have an issue with naming a new person to the club as captain, if we had somehow been able to get our hands on Michael Voss at his best I would be ecstatic to have him as captain in his first year... but Michael Voss was a fantastic leader, as well as a fantastic player.
I like Judd, I like him a lot but whilst I'm sure he is a walk up start as the best player on the list I'm not certain he is the best leader. He is a premiership captain, which I do feel deserves a lot of respect, but when he played as captain I didn't see great leadership- I quite often saw the best player on the park, but not great leadership. He was captain of the Eagles as they went through the worst series of off field episodes that I can recall an AFL club going through, obviously it was due to a culture that existed prior to Judd becoming captain and he didn't seem involved in any of it, coming out with a clean name (as far as I know), but I think that has tainted him as a leader of young men. Deserves a second chance to prove himself as a leader? Certainly. Deserves it immediately, and immediately at a new club? I'm not sure.

That said, good luck to him
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Well to be clear I don't think he should have waltzed in to it as I don't think he has proven himself a standout leader (Voss being an extreme example there), premiership or not- but it doesn't mean I don't hope it all works out for them and Judd can put the past behind him.

Wrong decision IMO. Should of given it to someone who has been there for a few years, Nick Stevens would of been ideal.

They should have minimum 8 captains at Carlton.
One fwd, one mid, one back, one bench, two for the social club and one just for John Elliot.

Apparently the leadership group lobbied for him to get the role.
He obviously has strong leadership qualities, and perhaps the team want the best possible chance of success this year.

I don't hate Carlton anymore because the have been at the bottom of the ladder for so long I kind of feel sorry for them.
Judd seems like an OK bloke,so good luck to him.

                    Except against the Swans....
