Good move by Roosy, at least he'll be able to go out on his own terms.

I reckon that "the horse" will be a great coach in future years for the Swannies.

Nice to see him showing a bit of loyalty to our Great Harbour City as well. Who knows? Maybe he'll end up being the coach for the West Sydney side. I reckon that would be awesome. Horse versus Roos, Sydney vs West Sydney. THE HYPE!!!!

I doubt that will happen because Roosy will retire before that happens.

Hopefully it will be like John Howard annointing Peter Costello. Nothing against Horse, it's just that I would rather see the best person for the job appointed when the time arrives. You never know who might be available then.

I was referring to the statement:

If Roos was to ever contemplate a return to AFL coaching after a few years off, it would have to be back in Sydney rather than anywhere else.

This story was around last year when we played St Kilda at Telstra Stadium and was in either the Tele or SMH.

I am at a loss as to why it would need to be rehashed now on the public site, unless Roos is considering his options beyond this year.

Once he retires he wont come back and especially as a coach of a west Sydney team, why would he want to hurt his image in the eyes of Swans supporters.?

While it would not make me supports a Western Sydney team it would absolutely not hurt Roos image in my eyes.

Quite frankly, what better way could a Western Sydney team launch itself in (say) 10 years time than by tempting Roos back to coaching - just like Barassi was a key part of reinvigorating the Swans.

Naturally I'd prefer Roos to never leave but he's already stated that he will be moving on. BTW, how old are his boys now? Once they get to the latter part of high school he's likely to stay wherever he is for a few years.

That is what I was thinking when I read the article....

With a lot of jobs on offer last year and in 06, it is pretty obvious that Longmire has been kept at the club to be Roos successor.

It wouldn't hurt his image in my eyes at all. I would have even more respect for him than I already do if he was willing to take on a new side and try to get them on their feet. He'd lose a lot of games, and he'd take a pay cut, but he'd be doing the new club, the game, and Sydney a lot of good.

Absolutely. If Longmire is the best option when Roosy leaves, then fair enough. The club would be remiss if it didn't canvas all available options. You never know, Wallace might be available by then.

I'm not sure where this has come from. It's a bit dispiriting to see a head coach talk about hand overs at the start of the season instead of the season itself.

If Horse wants to talk up his credentials then I'm sure he can do it himself. As a midfield coach you'd have to say he's been very disappointing up until now.

All this proves to me is that Roos will go sooner rather than later because he clearly feels he owes Horse.

My only hope is that if the likes of Buckley or Voss are available that we speak to them as well.

stuff Buckley I wouldnt want him as our coach (still think for large chunks of his career he was overated). Voss yes please- just if anything to get him out of the commentary box where he is truly woeful! Will make a super coach one day I feel also.

You can count Voss out, he will either be Brisbane's next coach or the new Gold Coast coach.
