I was at the game Friday night - wasn't a lot of feeling to it.
Bazza played well and Grundy looked lively up forward, MOL didn't do too much, the rest of the forwards weren't too effective. Down back LRT had a disaster, Leo did ok.
Richo towelled LRT who played on him all night as far as I can remember, Richo surprisingly kicked straight all night!
Barow seemed to get a fair bit of it, Tambling destroyed our midfield - was too quick for everyone, had a pile of driving runs forward.
Foley was just too smart for them as well - looked like he had the ball on a string.
We looked pretty weak with Jolly rucking without Everitt, although I think two things cost us in the end, Midfield being way to slow for Tambling and LRT being played on Richo - apart from a run down and tackle in the early part of the game, he made LRT look amature.

Did anyone play well in being soundly beaten by Richmond...unlikely as that seems (the playing well I mean).

Was it the youngsters or Dad's Army who had the majority of game time (especially in the middle).

        Thanks for the comments Edgecrusher.

LRT has been quite impressive up to now in the pre-season - fit, reading the play well and using the ball intelligently. But he's pretty much been the spare man in defence, which is a different role altogether to playing on the likes of Richo. I guess we need to remember that last year was pretty much a write-off for him. It's been 18 months since he last tackled an assignment like Richo or Brown. We just have to hope he remembers quite quickly, since he'd got quite good at those roles before his injury.

And we always have Bolton to fall back on if LRT's not up to it yet.

Was pleased for his sake to hear that Tambling went well. To me he has been crucified for not being Lance Franklin..mind you the Tigers eat their own.

Hope the lack of pace in our team doesn't show up in the real season. The NAB cup games have been lightening fast on the tele.

I was told on very good authority that it mostly our more experienced players who got towelled up.
Roos was full of praise for O'Dwyer and Moore particularily up forward,Barlow was in our best and I think it was White who put in another good performance.
Unfortunatly Bird did not play.It would have been good to see him up against Foley and Tambling who apparantly ran the legs of our midfielders.
We played almost a full strength team although Buccy was missing and he would have made a difference.
