Hawks own up to playing 19 men against Crows

Brent Guerra on ground for four minutes | Herald Sun

Why aren't they investigated? Isn't playing 19 men, a form of cheating?

They should have their score wiped off, isn't that the law?

    From the article:
The AFL is expected to determine its penalty for the Hawks today or tomorrow.

We both know that the Hawks will get soft treatment.

And the result of the game doesn't matter. The matter of the fact is, the Haws cheating.

Hawthorn yesterday admitted to the league it had inadvertently played Guerra in the opening minutes of the final quarter.
        Is not cheating.

Deliberately playing 19 players is cheating.

I believe the rules are that if a captain has reason to believe at any time during a game that the opposition has more than 18 players on the ground, he is entitled to ask the game to be briefly stopped and a headcount performed. If he is found to be correct, then the opposition has its score set back to zero.

So you're half right, but the opposition has to spot your error while it is happening.

So, can we really trust interchange officials now?

The Hawthorn people in the coaches box would surely have known that Guerra was on the ground, and nobody had come off the ground to replace him on the bench.

Yeah, coaches boxes are such serene places where clear thinking is always evident. T
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

There's never been clear thinking in the Carlton coaches boxes in recent years.

What, Carlton had a coaches box. Who'd a thought?
