I have been a Port supporter almost as long as I have been a Swans supporter...I obviously enjoyed the period when there was a link between the two Clubs

I was hoping that they would play as a stand-alone team in the VFL.

I dont think the system works when you merge VFL-AFL teams..as you limit how many players can play, and you lose control over where certain players play etc

However I know what you mean...it would be great to have an excuse to see more Swans games, and to see the youngsters that we very rarely see in the Seniors.

Yeah, actually I wouldn't mind having a stand alone team in the VFL. At least it would be more competitive than the reserves competition in Canberra.

Who do you think out of their current ressies can make the step to becoming a permanent first grader?

Port supporter again now that they're not affiliated with North.

Will have a look if they're on the ABC.

Do you mean the Swans or Port Melbourne? Don't know much about the Port Melbourne list at the moment to be truthful. Do you have the team list handy on you? If anybody can find the team list for Port Melbourne, could they post it here please?

As for the Swans, I think Craig Bird obviously. I hope Daniel O'Keefe steps up a notch this year, I'm a big rap for. And Eddie Barlow, Jarrad Moore and Tim Schmidt are the guys I'm looking forward to see.

I know someone at Port and am going to watch their trial against Frankston in a few weeks.

He's done pretty well in the ressies down their for the past few years incl a Todd Medal so hopefully this year he cements his spot in the firsts.

My junior footy club in Sydney was the only one in the country that wore Port Melbourne's strip (this was in the late 80s/early 90s), or so we were told at the time. We went down to play some games against a club in Melbourne (and, in a big suprise to everyone, actually won thank you very much) and the Port Melbourne guys had us over to watch a game then have a meet and greet with the butchers, bakers and candlestick makers... it was back in VFA days, they were really chuffed to see a bunch of kids in the Port strip
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
