14 out of 22 Swans games on Fox

If you don't live in Sydney the opportunity to see Swans games is very limited. Rounds 1,4,5,6,8,14,20 & 21 are the only games on free to air. That means the other 14 are shown on Fox. Not good for Swans fans who don't have Foxtel and live anywhere other than Sydney.

Meh! I have Austar and live in Victoria and can see the Swans on a weekly basis, so I'm happy.

      Quit rubbing it in.
Foxtel subscribers are now not only paying for ads, they're also paying to miss a lot of swans games.

      Option B: Move to Sydney.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Option A: Move to Victoria and then get Foxtel/Austar.

Foxtel is the most enjoyable way to watch Footy on TV anyway, no ad breaks is great. (mind you not always the most enjoyable commentary teams, especially now that great Clinton Grybas has passed on )

Whenever the Swans are playing away and the game is on both Foxtel and FTA in Sydney, I always choose the Foxtel feed.

Oh no - that's the first I've heard of it - how tragic!

How are they paying to miss Swans games? As AnneW said - 14 of 22 games are on Foxtel.
In Sydney ... 22 of 22 games are on FTA (26 if we make it all the way to the granny).

Doc, I disagree with advertising on foxtel. When it was first released they said "watch TV without the ads". I have friends who have had foxtel from day one - even they say it's not worth it ... "more ads, less footy".

How long were you overseas for? What else have you missed out on??

It's kinda like having amnesia, eh?

                      Yep. Sucks BIG time.

Due to Foxtel, I no longer watch much footy (or state cricket).

I was away all of January. Not sure what else I missed out on (an unknown unknown), but every now and again something (like this) pops up.

Anyone who says there are too many ads on Foxtel making it not worth it are just talking rubbish - obviously the sort of people who just like to have a whinge about everything. FTA typically has 15-18 minutes of advertising every hour. Foxtel has less than half that, most of which are promos to fill the gaps to make programming every half hour. Movies and sports are still mainly uninterrupted - eg: no ad after every goal!
The first post in this thread said "If you don't live in Sydney the opportunity to see Swans games is very limited. Rounds 1,4,5,6,8,14,20 & 21 are the only games on free to air. .

I said if you do live in Sydney you get the whole season FTA. Therefore, foxtel is more or less irrelevant for a Sydney based fan who likes to watch EVERY Sydney game. If you prefer to watch more than four or five games FTA each week, then yes, foxtel becomes relevant.

Foxtel used to show every Sydney game.

As for foxtel not being worth it ... IMO (remember, that's my opinion - you don't have to agree with it, I'm not holding a gun to your head) - I can watch ads for free on FTA. I don't need to pay $100 per month to see ads. When they remove advertising from foxtel, I'll subscribe.

Foxtel is one of the ebst things to happen to football in Sydney. More live games than ever before and no ads during quarters.

Annie, how do you MISS games if you have Foxtel? If the game isn't on Foxtel, it's on FTA. If it's not on FTA, it's on Foxtel. They cover each other. In Sydney's case, you have 22 games on FTA, 14 of which are ALSO on Foxtel, and the Foxtel coverage of the footy is better, as there are no ads except at the breaks.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!
