    Hun's analysis

Write off battle-hardened Sydney Swans at your peril | Herald Sun

Interesting article - though he missed Bird entirely.

"Yet, used properly, the bitterness felt by all associated with the club during their coach's fight to clear his name could easily be worth a couple of wins this year.

There is no group of AFL players that respects its coach more than the Swans do Roos.

So where do they finish? As with all clubs, except Geelong, opinions vary wildly.

Slipping out of the top eight would be the strong prediction of some.

Another Grand Final berth wouldn't surprise others."

I was quite pleasantly surprised with this article. I expected the same old garbage, that we're too old and worn out.

With some youth being injected like Bird, Barlow and Jack, we could finish in the top 4, if things go our way.

A pretty poor article. Whoever wrote it seems like they have no idea.

        Which explains this statement:
But there appears to be no wow factor, no yet-to-be-discovered talent guaranteed to take this side back to a Grand Final.

Bird could be that skillful midfielder we lacked in 07.

The article was written from jottings taken off the back of a beer coaster.

The name Damien Barret says it all.

I glanced at the article,as I have for the other teams he has attempted to summarize.I felt that Mr Barrett has done little research on the current Swans and has no idea what has gone on during the pre season. To be honest I just scurried through it giving it no regard.

He's probably a young journo who has just finished TAFE.

If youth was the secret to success then Carlton should have dominated in recent years.

I always thought he was the 2nd biggest nuff behind Mike Sheahan.

True, but the point is that, like Sheahan, he's not some young bloke just out of TAFE.

Despite what our personal opinions might be, they are still amongst the top AFL journos going around.

For the record, I thought the article was well balanced and it's hard to argue with any of the points that were made.

I heard he had a bed wetting problem, snorted amyl nitrate and liked going to transgender nightclubs.

                      Now that's an insult!

And it also didn't touch on B2's stirring call to battle a few days ago. Our blokes are clad in polyester armour!

Spot on Doc. No other sides have players give cliched pep talks to teir peers and the club faithful at the start of a season. We are, as some say, in shoos.

You two are so cynical, what do you think Bolton should have said - "Sorry boys, we don't have a chance this season"

Not at all. I am saying that I do not think that Bolton's pep talk sets the club apart from any other and therefore should not be taken into account when considering likely success in 2008.
