To some extent that means Riewoldt does have a "right" to the ball. Lots of facets of the game favour the player who gets front position.

Whether or not Riewoldt was entitled to free kicks in any of these instances, what galls me the most is the suggestion that Bolton was being unsportsmanlike because he had the audacity to be running so close behind Riewoldt that when Riewoldt jumped, some contact was unavoidable. I can't see how Bolton could have checked his motion given it didn't actually happen in slo-mo, or Age freeze frames. The implication is that a defender should actually trail 5m behind their man just to ensure there is no inadvertant contact should the forward decide to jump.

Well, who hasn't done that from time to time, or other nasty things like a Muslim house guest asks you which was is east for praying and you point south.

Anyone think that there should be a fuss about the Saints tactics in a marking contest against Goodes in the 3rd qrtr. Surely that was tunnelling?

You should post something on BF about this. Would be interesting to see how people react.

When LadyBoy St Nick got a free off Captain Craig in a marking contest I thought 'LeTunnelling'.

                    Just me then.

Least I wasn't alone in seeing that, find it hard to believe the yellow maggots could rule that as a genuine attempt to play the ball.

Commentators on Fox: ooh, aah, mmm, na goodes just ran under the ball, nothing in it.

Definitely pushed Goodes under it by hipping the lower body for mine, but so what, play on, used his body.

Hah, I had great delight in screaming out "tunnelling" when this happened - sadly, very few people around me seemed to know what I was talking about...sigh.

Other way around it would have been tunnelling.

Ditto...although I didn't scream out, just politely enquired to my mate and anybody else who cared to listen "Was that not tunnelling???"
