Because he isn't and I really, really think you need to build a bridge.

Because Vespremi is. I agree Rioli looks like a great prospect. But until we see what Vespremi has to offer, which by most reports is plenty, there is no point pondering why we didn't recruit Rioli.

How should I know? I love the Swans, but I'm not the obsessed follower of draft picks that some people are (No, this is not a deliberate shot at you, just a generalisation). I guess history will tell us whether taking Vespa instead of Rioli was a good idea or not.

I was about to eat you alive I'm not saying Vez wont be good, I was hoping we'd take Rioli a LONG time ago, but I'm excited about seeing our first pick get a run, soon!

You're talking about Sydney and Roos, if we had taken him, it would be next year at the least that would see Rioli for Sydney, no matter how good he is.

rioli is not on our list if we did pick him up he would play his first game in 2010,thats the way it is in sydney partly because our ressies play in the worst domestic comp. in aus.

I agree that Rioli looks like a very exciting long term prospect.

But, I have a question to all those that think that we don't give our youngsters a fair enough chance, or that good talent is being wasted: How many of the youngsters that have left the Swans have been picked up by opposition clubs and how many are now above average players at AFL level?

thats because of recruiting mistakes and the comp.the ressies play in.

It would be hard for another club to pick up one of our (ex)players, especially if all they base it on is games in the Canberra comp.
