Caro launches into the Sundance Kid

Roos stays ahead of PR game - realfooty.com.au

I read this as a not very subtle back hander. Caro insinuates that our coach is a manipulative control freak. A borderline liar with a glass jaw. Of course she serves this @@@@ pie with liberal dose of honey. I wonder what motivated it?
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Because they can't land a blow on him. He keeps dodging bullets. And Caro wants everyone to know it. Never mind the the sort of shenanigans Mick Malthouse carries on with though.....

"Ross and I are fine," insisted Roos after a conversation with Lyon. And yet it was Lyon who reportedly called Jeff Gieschen at the AFL to report his concerns
...I thought it was Fraser who called Geshcen.

      You dirty dog Lyon.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

I think it is a fair article. I used to like Roos quite a lot, but I really just see him increasingly as a bit of a pratt (for want of a better term that will get past the swear filter).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

My guess is that Lyon was part of the coaching plot to deploy such a "tactic" while he was with us. When it was used against his beloved Saints, he decided to blow the whistle. Well, it's a theory.

Yes well this ham fisted attempt at psycho babble journalism probably says more about Wilson than the coach. One suspects that our intrepid Louise Lane might have had some past unfortunate experiences with suave and charming smooth talkers who haven't told her the whole truth. The article belongs in New Idea.

Lyon called the AFL, but it was Fraser who went public with it. If Lyon thought there could be an issue, he had every right to voice his concerns to the AFL, and Paul Roos agreed. It was Fraser going public that was the problem. Lyon calling the AFL was acceptable; that was going through the proper channels in order to resolve the issue, so Roos was fine with that. It wouldn't have reached the media, so everything is dandy. Fraser was the one who @@@@@@ everything up by going public. This is one of the points Caro missed, assuming Roos had a problem with the issue being raised in the first place. That wasn't the problem; the problem was it being speculated upon in the media.

Anyway, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, having read OP's post, but it was still pretty pathetic. Gee I'm glad I'm in NSW, and don't have to listen to Caro's tripe on a regular basis.

This is why, the media are @@@@ing hypocrites. Mick Malthouse complains about the rules and umpires every time they lose, and complains about the rules, the AFL threaten him with a fine, and he backsdown like the coward that he is.

Why aren't the media going after Malthouse for? Oh, that's right, they're scared of him! It's Malthouse, that is scared of criticism, if anyone dares criticise him, he blasts them for all it's worth. I've seen it time and time again, it's part of the reason, why the media don't touch him and are scared of him.

She's just caught up with a few old posts on RWO. Roos is a tool.

I'm starting to hear more Swans supporters become a bit annoyed or frustrated with Roos.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Unfortunately there is a double standard and in the last incident (calling the AFL stupid and infering those at the top were idiots) Malthouse didn't even get a "threat" of a fine. I would love to see what would happen if Roosy came out with a similar comment!

It seems to me (and I could be wrong) that the AFL community believes Malthouse has paid his dues in his 24 odd years of coaching whereas the AFL and commentators like Caroline Wilson don't think that 6 years of coaching by Roos justifies his right to speak up.

Also, I note that if power teams such as Collingwood are attacked whether directly or indirectly their Presidents eg. Eddie will stand up and use their media contacts to put their case forward. Roosy simply does not have these luxuries.

As for Roos bashing by Swans fans, what is the problem? Does he not pick the team to your liking or do you resent the fact that he stands up for his players and club when attacked from outside sources?

The three criticisms which seem to have rankled most with Roos are:

                            - Robert Walls claiming that he was coaching only for himself
                            - being accused of match fixing
                            - being accused of coaching his players to deliberately hurt another player in a marking contest (and related accustation on said player / players).

Sorry, but I reckon any coach will get just a little pissed off with criticisms like those.

And I think that is fair enough. FWIW, I do not agree with any of those 3 criticisms, although maybe the first one, depending on how you want to spin what Walls said.
