What a start to the season!

This is the best start to a season as of Round 4 since 1998, when the Swans won their first five games.

I was checking the records, and I think that with a percentage of nearly 160, it might be the Club's best ever percentage as of Round 4 in their 111 year VFL/AFL history. Even in years such as 1986 and 1998 when the Swans were unbeaten as of Round 4, their percentage did not match 159.2 as it presently stands

And it could've been 4-0, if that kick of Moores had've been a bit straighter.

I remember everyone talking about how difficult the first month and a half of the season would be. I don't think many predicted us to win 3 of the first 4.

I put it down to the young guys. They add some much needed enthusiasm which was non existent last year.

Still a long way to go though.

And they love to attack.. they just don't stop moving! Also love their second and third and fourth (and etc.) efforts!

Great start to the season by the boys.

And having Barry Hall out, will be a litmus test for them.

I hope we can pull off an upset, and prove everyone wrong again,
that we do not rely on Barry Hall up forward, and that it's 22 players make up a team, not just 1.

The youngsters have been terrific, and seem to have infected the others with their drive.

The Moore missed goal against the Saints should be put into this context. If the Swans had won against St Kilda in Round 1, presently they would be experiencing only their 8th occasion in 111 seasons where they won their first 4 games. The occasions were:

              1909 (percentage at Round 4: 197%)
              1932 (127%)
              1936 (152%)
              1944 (124%)
              1945(128%)
              1986(144%)
              1998 (145%)

Consequently, the percentage in 2008 in Round 4 at 159.8% is the second best ever Round 4 percentage in the club's history, suspassed only by the 1909 effort of 197%

Which means, if we can get over this BH incident we can be a powerhouse in the finals. Geelong be afraid, be very afraid.

I voted for 5-1 with a loss to Geelong.
Suppose we'd better beat the Cats.

not too be negative but port havent won a game yet, the eagles are a shadow of their former selves and lions are a young inconsistent side. None of these teams are in the 8, unless brisbane have snuck in.

But you can only beat who you play. The next 4 weeks will tell a tale

Yes, I totally agree with your sentiment. I said at the beginning of this H&A season that we'll know after first 8 rounds whether or not we're top 4 material or not.

I think you're right, but again it looks like a season with only a few really good teams. Thus far Geelong and Hawthorn really stand out (the former more so than the latter naturally). And the Bulldogs are looking good, same with Adelaide. The Saints look vulnerable, although good in patches, same with Collingwood. We are easily looking top 8 and possibly top 4 or thereabouts on current circumstances.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Don't discount Collingwood. I hate the bastards, but they play as a team, and are well drilled. With an easy draw, they could make the top 4.

Anthony Rocca, is doing well so far for them.

Yep, I think Collingwood are a very well drilled team and are a chance at top 4. Losing Rusling is a bit of a knock for them. I was expecting big things from them this year but a 'Pies supporting friend of mine is a little wary, so I have tempered my views a bit.

Im stoked with our start to the season but next week is the real litmus test. I dont think we will miss Barry Hall that much to be honest, but its more whether we can stand the pressure they will exert. We are still making plenty of mistakes with the ball in hand and fiddling around with it at times, but gee I like what I saw last night, especially from the young guys. And the older guys seem to have been enthused by the younger blokes and are playing very well. And to top it off, Goodesy is starting to show some of his best form. He is far from where he has been at his best, but a couple of times last night he showed his trademark best. He just has to extend the 5 minute purple patches to a whole match.

Really though, Im beginning to get very excited by what I see. The loss of Hall will hurt, but who knows these young blokes are enjoying themselves and playing well. Its very good to watch.

If we can do ok over the next two rounds- I dont expect to beat Geelong but would hope we could beat the Roo boys we could be sitting very well at 4-2. I said Id be happy with 3-3 and still would be. We might just be ready for one last big push and hurrah before the older players are past it!

                              Cmon you swannies!
