The truth is that goodes is a brillant at times (I have never seen a better quarter - with the possible exception of paul kelly v carlton Princes Park 1996 (5 ?) - than against adelaide in 2006) but can be in credibly frustrating by swanning around without imposing himself on a match because he simply won't or can't play a key position or even really on the ball

But for all of that he is our goodes
That's why he wins Brownlows. You can play 7 or 8 amazing games and a dozen dud ones and win a Brownlow. My biggest complaint about Goodes has always been his consistency. Yet I'd rather have him than see him elsewhere as he's undoubtedly a potential matchwinner every game.

I never said he wasn't a great player. 2 Brownlows prove that, but as bloods just said, it's his consistency.

If your not happy, with these types of comments, then ignore them rather than make foolish inane comments. I watch footy with both my eyes, and I won't be pissing off anywhere soon.

I'd suggest it's pretty foolish to ignore his brilliant performances last year, just because he hasn't had a BOG in 4 rounds of football. Is he not a champion if he's not in the top 3 players each week?

I'm not ignoring last year. We all know what he is capable of.

And I doubt he'd be in the top 5 in our first 4 games.

He keeps breaking the team rules.....he doesn't kick it to Goodes, although sometimes he tries.

The steal from the tap to Kerr was MAGIC !
It makes me proud to follow a team with such talent that we go home having seen such a flash of brilliance.

On his day Goodes is very very ....Unbeatable

                      Scott,
I appreciate everything you do on this site...but your lack of understanding of the game we respect worries me.
Adam G has won 2 Brownlows, and will prob win at least another one . But you show him absolutely no respect..you disappoint me!
Were you even at last night's game? Did u see the 15 minute sensational game turning break in the 2nd quarter?
The man blew the game apart!!!

                        Exactly Royboy.

I took two AFL virgins to the game last night and they were gob smacked by Goodesy's running mark as the ball came over his head.

I remember Adam at Plugger's 1300 goal aftermatch function. He was sitting with Heath James, both dresssed in suits and he was displaying all class as a person.

Having said that, I hope he takes his Mum to the Brownlow this year and doesn't leave her Csorten on the night.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Goodes is a freakish player, like many Aboriginal players, but he isn't our best. On his DAY, he is better possibly than any other player in the competition. He IS a gamebreaker. He can win games off his own boot. Unfortunately, he doesn't do this nearly consistently enough. If he is on, he is brilliant, fantastic, awesome, but if he's off, then he's really off. He is also off too often. Goodes is a potential matchwinner every game, but he isn't reliable. O'Keefe, Kirk and C.Bolton all contribute more overall. They go in week in, week out and play well. Goodes is a great player to have, but I'd trade him before I traded those other players I mentioned (well, maybe not Kirk, since he's quite a bit older, but you get my drift).
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

No, I never played the game. Grew up in a league orientated area.
Not sure what that has to do with observations of the game.

No I don't want 40 poss every week, although that would be nice.
I know how good he is, and I know he can be GREAT on his day. I'd like him to be more consistent. A small burst of play in a game that was already getting away from WC, does not make a game breaker to me.

Players like Judd, are usually very consistent, even on bad days they still seem to have an influence on the game.

Articles on Goodes earlier in the year reported Goodes to be in devastating form, except for a "15 min burst" where he was sensational, but missed a getable goal, and a few other pockets in previous games, I don't think he has lived up to those reports.

And another point just for you guys, If I didn't think extremely highly of Goodes, I wouldn't have put him and MOL at the top left of your screens!!!!!

                                Talk about over reacting.
