    Pushed into the fence

It looked to me like the WC player pushed Hall into the fence, increasing the force of the impact.

I have wondered before, and more so now, why it seems to be allowed to let players push others in the back, or sling to them to the ground, because they are going over the boundary. Do the rules stop completely at the boundary line? This is not just about Hall, it seems to me that it happens a lot.

At the game I thought that it should have been a free kick to Hall for undue rough play. I haven't seen it replayed.

I thought the Eagles player can be reported for it?

But because it's Barry Hall, I suppose the AFL, will allow it then.

Didn't seem much in it at all from my view, though I was directly behind it and in a very similar position to where the camera view was from the replay, so I am willing to accept evidence from somebody side on.

That said, it doesn't appear to be in Glass' repertoire to consciously try to do something like that, he's about the only Illegal I have respect for.

Unfortunately, any bleating from the Swans will sound like tit for tat sour grapes though.

I've seen the footage probably 10 times on tv last night and today, and the thought didn't occur to me that it was even a free kick.

It's a bit of a tricky one, as the boundaries are pretty massive out there.
Obviously this will all be fixed up and made safer, and it really puts the onus on the AFL to thoroughly inspect and assess every ground regularly, even those that are rarely used.

I think this happens often, to and by all teams, not just to us or by WC. I only used this example because it was one people were likely to have seen.

I really can't believe that there is no padding on those bars if they are at head height.

There was a blatant push by Glass, thought there was some contribution to Hall ending up going into the fence but the lack of mention after the game made me question this.

Pretty standard nudge with the forearm on a player headed out of bounds. See it all the time, including by Swans players.

You think there was a lot in the Glass push?

                        Who else am I defending?

                        Should I be defending Hall?

What do you mean? Players get a shove all the time as they go over the boundary line, Swans players do it as much as anybody else.

I appreciate that is your perception, which I must say I don't agree with, but in this case surely it was a perfectly fair statement?
