Why Skilled Stad twice in a row?

Didn't we last play Geelong at Skilled Stadium? I used to think that teams alternated equally between home and away games. I mean, e.g., we play the Eagles ...Perth...Sydney....Perth....Sydney etc.
What causes this situation? A due home (Sydney) clash with Geelong would have been very welcome at this time.

Probably something to with playing 6 games in Victoria for the Melbourne based members.
We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty.

Yeah, sounds feasable....pity it HAD to be the Cats though.

Not that I have no confidence in the Swannies, quite the opposite after just seeing the Eagles thrashing....delayed 24 hours here in the Us.

Sometimes there are consecutive years of one venue - we had it at the SCG from 2001 to 2004 for example.

And we haven't played Freo at Subiaco since 2004. I don't really have a problem that Sydney are playing Geelong again at Skilled. How we perform is what counts.

Yeah, I think the fixture evens out over a number of years...I think that is how is used to be anyway. Would never be truly 'even' but I reckon they do a pretty good job of it to be honest. I think it is kind of like deciding who you play twice in a year...sometimes you get all the gun teams, sometimes all the bottom teams, just depends.

As for this week, will be a great test for the boys...will be awesome to see where we are at. Just quietly, I reckon we will come out and beat the catters...they are due for a loss. Hahaha, I always think we are gonna win tho so don't go mortgaging your house with the betting shops just yet!

Im not sure we will win, but if we turn up and start ok we might give them a mighty big fright. They aren't anywhere close to where they were last year at the current time, and we are playing alright footy. We might struggle up forward, but we did play very well without BBB last year.

Biggest thing I feel is to get our forwards matched up well in terms of pace- the last thing we can afford to do against Geelong is let their defenders like Scarlett etc run off our forwards all day long. If we can restrict that for most of the game and play good solid contested footy through the middle and of course defend well (Which we are doing quite well at the moment I feel) then we arent without a hope.

Aparently, Cresswell will be the pre-match entertainment and knock his knee back in place.

Where is Cressa?? I hope he's left that shady Qld motel room.

But we're playing Geelong in Sydney later in the year. Does it make a difference which way around it is?

I have been critical if this policy for years. I remember Sydney playing 4 games in a row in the four straight seasons, (1997 to 2000 inclusive), at Princess Park against Carlton. It should be like the Davis Cup, where the Home and Away venues alternate.

Ah, yes but one of those was a five goal come from behind in the 4th quarter, so all is forgiven...

If the form of Sydney and Geelong continues throughout the season the Round 20 game against them at ANZ Stadium might break the ground's AFL attendance record.
