Is Brendan Murphy ready for senior footy?

I haven't seen the kid play and i know he has only played a few games ... but all the reports are really exciting.

If he is going to learn to play the game why not set him for the length of Hall's suspension to play the real thing. Invariably champions rise to the standard that is around them. Maybe not at CHF ... but move goodes to that role and play him as a winger.

Out of left field i know ... to those who have seen him play what are your thoughts ???

      No, no and no.

There are very few 197cm 19 year olds who are ready to play senior AFL football, let alone one who has played a sum total of 4 competitive matches.

What those who have seen him are getting excited about is his undoubted athleticism and the speed with which he has picked up the basics of the game.

He does look to be improving with every outing and it's hard to know how long its going to take him. But I'll be very very surprised if he's anywhere close to contention this season.

Plus Roos handling of the likes of Jack, Moore and his comments on not exposing them before they are ready confirms what we have observed that he's pretty conservative about throwing the young guys in at the deep end.

White is much closer than Murphy to being ready, but even he probably needs more time in the twos yet.
