This is how it works, for the same striking charge.

Anyone other than Barry Hall: 3-4 weeks maximum, replayed once after the game, mentioned in the sports section the next day, forgotten in a couple of days time.

Barry Hall: 6-8 weeks minimum, replayed continuously throughout the game and after the game, headline news around Australia for at least 2-3 days and mentioned again in the sports section, interviews from grieving parents, doctors, lawyers and crime experts, headline stories on every AFL related show, re-enacted on The Footy Show and will be repeatedly mentioned for the next few weeks.

It was a complete dog act but the media wouldn't act the same if it wasn't Hall.

Over here they are calling for a public flogging at Subiaco oval in round 11.
The media are going on about how it wasn't provoked though on the replay Staker was trying to give Bazza the grope.
      Initially I said 12 weeks
Then I looked in the West Australian today and Farmer got only 6 weeks for eye gouging which I think is a worse offence.
6 weeks for the offence 2 weeks for the hysteria.
      8 weeks

Gamble received 3 weeks for his hit on Dal Santo, who continued playing with no ill-effects, so whether it's Hall or not it would have to be at least 5. Then add to the fact that it was a huge spectacle, then it's another week or two, regardless of whether it was Hall or not.

Noticed Staker had his car keys and was walking to it when the News was still saying that his test results were not in yet ??????

I hope 6 weeks but the Fat Controllers henchmen will give him 8.

His injury is about 6 weeks anyway so there won't be much difference.

Hall will come back very fit for the run into the finals. Hopefully the team wins more games than it loses.

I reckon he'll get 8. I think 6 is fair though and I wouldn't be surprised if it was more because of all of the media crap over the past couple of days. in the good ol' days he would have got a medal!

He could've strolled to his car in a wheelchair and the gullible, idiotic WA media would've believed it.

Staker's fine and will play this week, he's not having a cry about the incident but Eagles fans sure are.

I think if he's rested it's more for the concussion than jaw and neck soreness.

Same - would be suprised if it was more than 8.

There's a number that will satisfy the majority of whingers though, I don't think 8's it....probably closer to 12.
