cos if davis wasn't so soft and lazy he should have flooded back to stop those goals, or better yet, should have kicked 9 in the last to surpass his his 2005 efforts.

Difference being youll 99%of the time find kirk in contested situations...IMO he is a cut above anything davis is...

So, in actual fact it was Bevan, allowing Ablett to kick a goal and get that run on going that cost us the match.

Certainly can't lay the blame for yesterday's loss on either the forwards or backs, we were destoyed out of the middle in the first and last quarters but that's okay they are bloody good side Geelong. Players like Bird, Moore, Jack and hopefully Schmidt and Laidlaw will get better and hopefully by the time we play them again with a full team later in the year the result can be reversed as we are capable.

As for Davo I look at it this way, when he left Collingwood he was clealy a better player than Leon Davis but you don't have to be blind freddy to see that Leon Davis is now way ahead of him in terms of fitness (can play on the ball).

Leon Davis get's to more contests (a lot like Steve Johnson) and therefore can have much more impact on the game.

I am not sure that Davo is able to life himself to do this and therefore is not going able to get much more out of his AFL career which is a shame.

Unless things changed during the negotiations, he is not.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

The two Geelong half back flankers - Harley had 17 possessions and Wojcinski had 17 possessions. Davis racked up a mighty nine for the match. He gave two free kicks away with none for which indicates he played from behind for most of the match. He also has the highest ratio of uncontested possessions to contested possesions of our forwards in in the club. Davis was simply taken apart from the half forward line. He should not have been selected fit or otherwise. We needed more height on the forward line and White should have been given the chance. No doubt he will be next week. I still haven't got back to watch the replay but Davis stats are just woeful. My lasting impression of his performance is of him on the wing metres clear and being so tentative that he fumbles a slowly rolling ball over the boundary line. An embarassment.

Bevan was our third best player. Tough skillful game against the best team in the comp. It is significant that Roosey threw Bevo onto SOG after he had cut loose. Such is the faith the best coach in the comp has in the kid.

connolly, I agree with a lot of what you say and enjoy your sparring with the masses, but White is playing all his games at FB. He is obviously being groomed to come into the backline to prepare for Leo's retirement.

I could be wrong, but I reckon they'd be loathe to disrupt the plan they have put in place and Grundy is more likely to come in, or play Cheese in a more forward spot for the time being.

That said, White was very very good last week in the 2's and if he puts in a similar performance today....who knows.

Fair enough but it seemed we were one tall short yesterday. White could have been played in the ruck with LRT at CHF. He's big, enthusiatic and takes a pack mark and compared with well you know who. Reg can't play in the ruck and White gives us more options.
