Everyone has favourites. There are people you click with and are on the same wavelength as...and people you just can't seem to get through to.

I remember two hockey coaches I had. For the life of me I couldn't understand what one coach wanted of me and I was really frustrated and felt really dumb as others could understand. She did not regard me as one of her favourites.
The next year we had a new coach and it all clicked. I could understand and played well. Others complained about him. They weren't his favourites.

It is human nature. Even though it is big time professional sport there would still be an element of favouritism about.

That's not true. I hate everyone. Equally but no favourites amongst you all.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, the non-favourite is already starting to cop it in the media from Mr Fair.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Nah Davo. Apparently he returned when he didn't deserve a game.

my reason for saying that is that Goodes is in the news a bit at the mo because of his not so good performance, inappropriate game day footwear and girl problems. We really dont need to know this stuff and Roos should keep his gob shut, (like I wish he and the precious leadership group had of last week during the Bazza-Gate proceedings which dragged on for 4 days longer than it should have.)

Davo isnt going to get any praise unless he does a repeat of the 05 semi final, and kicks 8-10 goals instead of just 4. and even then all he will get is "yeah , nah, it was Ok" from Roos.

Mind you it would help Davo's cause if a) his fellow team mates actually kicked the ball to him properly instead of 5 meters in front of him & B) if they looked out for him at all. It annoys the @@@@ out of me how many times he is in a open space in a great position and his numnut team mates only ever seek Hall or MOL, yet Davis is a far more accurate kick than any of them. its time they removed the blinkers.

So I wonder who the team whipping boy it will be next week???

I'm sure Davo will help the team out by playing in Canberra next week so somebody else gets a chance to be it!

I am convinced Roos judges Davis on a scale totally different to every other player.

It could even be on the style of hair do that one gets chosen - stranger things have happened.

I was speaking to a former player I know last week which did prompt part of my thinking for this thread, he thought it was absolutely terrible that a senior player would be dropped after one round for apparently not chasing hard enough. His friends still involved in the club had told him that actually was it, no other issues caused by Davis during the off-season or during the week. Apparently a couple of other players were singled out behind closed doors for similar indiscretions after the round 3 game and were allowed to make up for it/work on it at training through the week.

His opinion is very much that Davis is treated on a completely different scale to other players in the club, and he said it is simply because he isn't really one of the boys.

You reckon Paul Roos doesn't have psychological profiles of each of his players on his desk. My guess is it states things like:

"Goodes - sending him back to the 2s would destroy his confidence for the season. Public listing of his faults and telling him that it's his problem to solve will both push him and raise his self esteem (cf Eade)"

"Hall - work with him behind the scenes. If you need to criticise him publicly, tell him it's just a PR thing so he doesn't think you mean it."

"Davis - too self assured to listen to subtlety. Push and threaten him hard and he might respond. Give an inch and he'll take a mile."

                              "Good luck with this lot."
