Anzac day - Essendon Vs Collingwood (may possibly contain spoilers)

What a huge game this has become in the AFL calender. Such an unpredicatble, high drama game. The epitomy of AFL really.

    Who's going?

    Who you supporting?

Where will you be watching it?

I'll be watching it at home.

And it's the one game of the year, that I'll be an Essendon supporter.

I'll never bring myself to follow Collingwood EVER!

    GO YOU BOMBERS!!!

I wish I could go just once. Maybe next year.

Always go for the Bombers in these games. Loved watching James Hird win medal after medal. Also was keen to see McVeigh play, but he's still injured isn't he?

A great spectacle, should be 80 000+ supporters at the MCG. I can't imagine what will happen if the end result is a draw.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

I think their first ever game in '95 ended in a draw with about 95,000 in attendance IIRC.

Depends on weather here. If it clears I'll go out, otherwise I'll watch it. I don't care about Magpies or Bombers, but it's footy after all.

I'll be there supporting the Bombers.

Should I be wearing my Swans shirt or my Bombers (cricket) shirt?

Perhaps the cricket shirt/swans jacket combination?
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .

You have to admire the pure bias of the Ch10 team. Johns blatantly throws himself into a Collingwood player's back and there's no malice in it.

Imagine it was Hall? Give me a break!

Yeah, I thought it was clearly the same and turning around, lining a bloke up and throwing a left . There was nothing in it.

I thought there was nothing in what Johns did - left the ground while the ball was in the air and collided with Pendlebury, and there was no harm done. Charge will be thrown out.

Where did I say it was the same? Please point that out

I was implying that if it was Hall who cannoned into someone's back, they'd be going OTT.

I disagree. Hall copped plenty of attention for a thuggish act, the likes of which have not been seen for years and which the AFL have been at pains to remove from the game. Incidents similar to Johns' happen every week - probably in a majority of games.

I didn't make it down this year (thank goodness), but if you ever get a chance to go to an ANZAC Day game I'd definately recommend it. The atmosphere there is something special - the silence during the last post is eerie, followed by the amazing roar during the game.
The draw in 1995 was unbelievable - I was there that day, and even walking through the gates before the game, everyone there knew this was something special. It's become a great part of the football calendar.

Hopefully one of these years I'll get down there for an Essendon win.
