Unless I have misread the line-up it is BRENNAN and SMITH out....not Davis
"I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005
mmm,Davis out for JW thats not fair on Davo but good luck JW on sunday.
IMO JW shouldnt come in at the expense of Davo
Apparently White in for Smith.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
"[T]here are things that matter more and he's reading and thinking about them: heaven, reincarnation. Life and death are the only things that are truly a matter of life and death. Not football."
Love his work in the reserves, this guy could be anything. Of course, the last player I had that feeling about was Ryan FitzGerald.....
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out.... Des' Weblog
Please can we just have a thread that is not wandering onto the topic of Davis. The merits of White need to be focussed on such as his good use of his body in contested situations and his palmong of the ball.
Sorry Satch - my fault! I am really looking forward to seeing White play.
So am I. This is the debut I've been waiting for, I don't want too much pressure on the kid but I really do think he is the first big legit KPP prospect to debut for us in quite a while.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
Fantastic news, particularly in light of White's two NAB cup performances against the Bulldogs in Canberra last year, and against Hawthorn this year in Tasmania.
I have also heard from a reliable story that Paul Roos is grooming White to be the Swans' next fullback once Leo Barry retires (or gets too old)
Now if Roosey is grooming JW for FB who in the hell is being groomed for a key forward role. Heath Grundy seems to be the lad, but I am not so sure. Dare I say Henry Playfair.
With BBBDHH and MOL in the twighlight of their careers there is some serious work to be done.
I would have thought with Bolton, LRT and Richards still with plenty of footy ahead of them, and Faulks appearing to be developing well, and Grundy showing that he isn't too bad a backup defensive option, the priority would be developing a replacement for Hall and O'Loughlin, the former who may retire early to pursue a boxing career, and the latter who if he doesn't retire this year, will surely retire at the end of 2009. Barlow looks like he could be a replacement for one of them; what about the other? White looks like a perfect candidate.
