    Top AFL Sledgers

Michael Voss declared he was unimpressed with Nick Riewoldt's sledge against Lovett last week, prompting some ex-players jaws to drop, Vossy himself being a sledger of McGrathesque proportions.

To help out, the Hun has given us a team-by-team rundown on AFL's sledgers.

Nathan Carroll and Josh Carr top the list. I like that Fev sledges his team-mates as well as opposition.

The Bloods supposedly keep pretty quiet on field. Our biggest, baddest mouth is - no prizes for guessing. I imagine Spida also wouldn't hold back in dispensing advice.

What was it that "Sooky boy" Riewoldt said?

Something like "you [insert expletive] wife beater" but he said it was OK as he and Lovett are mates.

I think it was Monfries (?) who was initially accused of the comment and said that he and Lovett were mates. I don't recall Riewoldt made a public comment. For some reason there were some suggestions it was racial villification - which seemed bizarre.

Clearly, before he was traded, Sean "Big Rowdy Mouth" Dempster would have been our prized sledger

I read the article in the SMH on Monday and it said that Riewoldt had commented that it was a heat of the moment thing and "Andy was OK with it as we are mates" or words to that effect.

I can't find the article and have recycled the paper but here is a link to the saints' fan forum

                Monfries I meant Montagna.

Voss criticism hits raw nerve - realfooty.com.au

Meanwhile, Montagna also said he was "good mates" with Essendon's Andrew Lovett despite the pair clashing heatedly during last Friday night's match at Telstra Dome.

That's because it's full of Saints supporters.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that Montagna was originally accused because he had a scuffle with Lovett (hence his comment about still being mates despite that) but Riewoldt actually made the sledge, which was reported a little later.

OK, thanks for clarifying that. I couldn't be bothered reading through their forum and was a little confused after re-reading the smh article.
