When is McVeigh going to go hard at the footy?

Mcveigh is getting the ball a bit lately but his disposal is woeful and for gawd's sake will he ever put his body on the line????

Roos would not stand it from any one else so why this golden boy???

He is a downhill skier looks great when the opposition is weak. E.g his port adelaide game but when it is close and tough he just loses it ... bad disposals at critcal times and doesn't win the ball when we really need it ... Roosy drop in a bring back at hard nut ... even matthews is better than this bloke!!!!!!!!

You weren't at the game today were you? It is foolish to judge someone just from the tv coverage. Mcveigh was servicable today. Not as good as his last 5 weeks but far better than at least half of the team.

He ran into and contested a couple of very hard contests, to say he didn't is just ignoring the facts.

Those that should go before him on todays performances are LRT, Leo Barry, Buchanan and the alleged "quarterback" Bevan (but...oh yeah...he got his head split open so he is right for a place in the team for the rest of the year).

To be fair, I thought Bevan was one of our top 3 (for his defensive work, not for his "quarterbacking").

On McVeigh, his disposal continues to be mixed (the number of times he kicks or handballs to the grass is amazing) but at least he is getting the ball more this year. His 'hardness' is a flighty thing.

Swanner you have to be kidding me- he has been one of our best players all season and on the back of one not so good performance you want him dropped! There were plenty others far worse them him out there today, that is for certain. I thought he did ok today, certainly nowhere near what we have seen from him so far this season, but to say he should be dropped is ludicrous imo.

No wasn't at the game today but i have watched the bloke live for years. TV coverage does give you a good look in close something you don't always get at the game ... so it is not foolish to judge him from TV. Secondly he hangs back at critical contests .. it is a fact .. i have seen him do it for two to three years ... it has not changed ans eems to being ignored...if it wasn't maybe he would improve ...

disappointing post. He was actually pretty reasonable today. He was playing on faster players for much of the game and kept them relatively quiet. His disposal was actually better than a number of those beloved on the redand whiteonline forum - for example Barlow who repeatedly turned the ball over.

McVeigh is no star and like most of our high draft picks (such as they are) their skills have frankly never progressed (bolton fosdike) but he does his job usually reasonably well

today the real disappointments were buchanan, bolton j, barlow, lrt (who handpassed the ball successfully between four swans to the one north player at a time when we needed to score) and the coaching staff who have been unable to develop any sort of system which assists us coming out of defence for someone to pass the ball to - to the extent that we have a wave of runners coming out of defence and absolutely no-one to pass the ball to

It was McVeigh'a worst game of the season so far by a mile.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

I thought he was OK and found a lot of space in the last Q. But I must agree with the poster of this thread on his reluctance at times, and he genuinely dogged it once today in a contest in the centre today. He just had to go for the footy first but hung back when he saw the size of the opposition.

he absolutely @@@@ himself in the 1stQ and will not attack the footy with any intensity.and i was there, the only really good thing he did was harrassing Harris in the last.

Sheesh, one only OK game this season and suddenly people are back to calling him a hack. He has been one of our best this year so far. His disposal has improved dramatically, his tank appears bigger, he is finding more of the ball and yes, he is throwing himself into contests more. Maybe not as much in this game as he has earlier in the season, but he laid 4 tackles, and picked up a fair few contested possessions.

WHAT? Bevan played the game of his career. I honestly had him as our best, marginally ahead of Goodes. I seriously can't see why you didn't rate his game. I didn't think Buchanan was bad either.

Buchanan was terrible - missed targets with nearly every disposal.

But does he seriously have the build to be 'hard'? I was happy with his effort today. There was one stage in the pocket where he chased a North opponent kicking out of defence to the extent that the North guy was put off his kick & it duly came back to him a few seconds later. It wasn't a stat, but it was a real 1%er if I ever saw one.

McHack wasn't so bad today (or didn't look too bad on the TV). There were a lot more tragic worse errors made by others today, that McHack actually looked like he was trying.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
